It was Taylor Swift Night on “American Idol” season 24 tonight on ABC. The Top 7 on “American Idol” 2026 were taking on a new “era” of songs from one of the biggest icons in music. Keyla Richardson has been shining bright this season, and I was beyond excited to see what she was going to pull out for this Taylor Swift Night performance on “American Idol” 2026. Check out the Keyla Richardson performance videos from tonight below in our “American Idol” spoilers.
Taylor Swift Song Performance
For her performance, Keyla is singing “Lover.” I was intrigued to see how she would do with a Taylor song. She definitely made it her own. Like every other performance, she was bringing us to church with this performance, but through Taylor Swift. She hits some big notes along the way, and another killer performance.
For the judges, Carrie said, we never have to worry about you. We get to sit back and watch her perform. You impress me every week. Nikki said she brought something new to that song. She loved what she did with it. You make it look so easy, and it feels so good. Thank you so much for that. Luke said that your confidence when just singing on the mic, people feel that confidence. Your look right now is on-point, so proud of you. Lionel said when you can take a song and turn it into you. You are beating us up out there; it’s beautiful to watch.
California Song Performance on ‘American Idol’
She said this is the first time she has listened to Etta James. She said she embodies California, so she is hoping she can do the song justice. When I saw Etta James, I thought it would be a perfect song choice for Keyla. First of all, how could Keyla have never heard an Etta James song? She performs “I’d Rather Go Blind” by Etta James. Yeah, it was a perfect song choice for her, and she was feeling all of those lyrics up there tonight. That was perfection.
For the judges, Nikki said I know Jennifer Hudson throws her shoes, but I don’t have any. That was an iconic moment. Luke said tears just started happening for him. Eatching her growth is so inspirational. Lionel said she’s walking, she’s got the mic. Let the congregation say, Amen.
Keyla has been one of the favorites this season. She did not come to mess around tonight. She knows you have to put it all out there, and she just did with both those performances. I mean, if she doesn’t get through tonight, then something is wrong. She should be one of the people performing in the finale, also. She’s just so good, and I am still shocked she has never heard an Etta James song before. From the sound of that performance, how is that possible? It sounds like she’s been singing that song for years.
What did you think of Keyla’s performances on “American Idol” tonight?
