Who is Sasaki in Jujutsu Kaisen’s Latest Episode?

In the newest episode of “Jujutsu Kaisen” — season 3 episode 7 (aka episode 54) — we start out with an interesting scene that sets the stage for the seriousness of the Culling Game. The scene centers around an interaction between Kenjaku-Geto and a character named Sasaki.

Sasaki is Yuji Itadori’s friend from high school. If you don’t remember who she is, we’ll explain more about her background in this article. And don’t worry — you’re not alone. “Sasaki” was a trending search term on Google immediately after the episode aired.

Note: This post has spoilers for the latest episode of “Jujutsu Kaisen.”

Kenjaku Thanks Sasaki for Being Yuji’s Friend

At the beginning of the episode, we learn that Geto-Kenjaku appeared to each of the humans within the barriers in their sleep and offered them a one-time opportunity to leave The Culling Game. We see this through the experience of Sasaki as he leads her safely out of the game.

He’s kind to her (which is unusual for this character) and apologizes for what’s happening, telling her there’s “no honor” in the game. (Which is ironic considering that he’s the one making the game happen, but that’s a different story…)

Just before he departs, Kenjaku tells her something that he did not tell anyone else. He says, “Thank you for being friends with my son” (referring to Yuji.)

Sasaki Was in Season 1 of ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’

Sasaki was briefly in season 1 of “Jujtusu Kaisen.” She’s attending the same high school as Yuji in the very beginning of the anime. She’s one of three members of the occult club, along with Yuji and Takeshi Iguchi.

Sasaki asked Yuji to retrieve a cursed charm, which led to a cursed spirit attacking. When Takeshi is hurt after a big battle, she blames herself (but Yuji insists he’s to blame for retrieving the charm.)

She’s an ordinary human without any powers. In season 1, she was wearing glasses, which is why you might not have recognized her in this episode. (In addition, she’s only in season 1 very briefly, so it can be easy to forget who she was.)

Just a quick reminder: don’t forget that next week, we won’t have a new episode of “Jujutsu Kaisen.” The anime is taking a week off for a special recap episode. But it will return at its regular time a week later! The hiatus is only one week long.
