Andy Cohen may appear in one of Super Bowl 60’s biggest commercials, but the longtime Bravo host will be watching the game from home this year.
The host of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” stars in Nerds’ Big Game commercial. However, Cohen revealed to People he declined an invitation to attend the Super Bowl in Santa Clara, California, because he did not want to miss a special tradition with his children.
Andy Cohen Stars in Nerds Super Bowl Commercial
Cohen appears in Nerds’ Super Bowl spot, which features him hosting a backyard party alongside animated Nerds characters. In a 15-second teaser, he answers his phone while inflating a pool float and says, “Hey bud! No, it’s always a good time!”
Later in the preview, Cohen dances with party guests before taking another call.
“Oo, sorry, it’s my Taste Bud. You got news?” he asks.
The teaser ends with the message, “Get your taste buds ready,” as Cohen adds, “Oh that’s juicy!”
Cohen said working with Nerds felt natural.
“I only do things that are organic and that makes sense, and I’ve been eating Nerds since I was a little kid,” Cohen told People. “Being a part of a Super Bowl ad is like a ‘pinch me’ moment in a life of many ‘pinch me’ moments.”
He added that filming was an easy day on set.
“Not only was it a huge production which you’ll see from the spot, but also it was working with a brand that I love, and I got to eat Nerds all day. So I was just having a ball,” Cohen said.
He also joked that it was far less stressful than hosting reunions.
“On the Salt Lake City reunion, I walk off because I’ve just kind of had it. And I was bringing none of that energy to the Nerds shoot.”
Why the Bravo Boss Is Skipping Super Bowl 60
Despite being invited to attend the game, Cohen said he chose to stay home with his children, son Benjamin Allen Cohen, 6, and daughter Lucy Eve Cohen, 3.
“[Ben] can’t believe I have a Super Bowl ad and he’s been talking about this for months,” Cohen shared. He explained that he hosts a Super Bowl party every year and did not want to miss watching the commercial with his son.
“I was invited to the game, and I was like, there’s no way that I can go to the game and not have this party and be with Ben when we watch the ad.”
Cohen has been open about how meaningful fatherhood is to him.
“Family means everything to me and having one of my own is something that I have wanted in my heart for my entire life,” he previously said on “Watch What Happens Live.”
He also shared how grateful he is for his family and support system, including longtime friend Anderson Cooper.
“I’m the only gay parent at Ben’s nursery school and the only single parent,” Cohen said in 2023. “I’m so grateful… because Ben sees Wyatt with two dads.”
Super Bowl LX airs February 8 on NBC from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, with the Seattle Seahawks taking on the New England Patriots.
