“Summer House” star Kyle Cooke opened up about his relationship with Amanda Batula just weeks before the couple announced their split in a joint Instagram post on Jan. 19.
On co-star Carl Radke’s “More Life” podcast, Cooke revealed a surprising boundary they set years before their breakup: they stopped watching themselves on their Bravo show. Batula chose to protect their relationship, showing just how seriously they took keeping their personal life intact.
Kyle Cooke Revealed He & Amanda Batula Avoided Their ‘Summer House’ Episodes
GettyCarl Radke devoted his first podcast episode to his “Summer House” co-star Kyle Cooke, who revealed that he and Amanda Batula decided to stop watching the Bravo show after it sparked arguments over their personal drama unfolding on screen.
“The first six or seven years … Amanda and I would always watch together,” Cooke began. “Sometimes that led to us literally having the same exact fight we just watched.”
“It was almost like we’d pick up right where we left off. Like, ‘Here’s why I felt that way.’ ‘Well, here’s why I felt that way.’ It can be challenging,” he continued.
Cooke revealed that Batula decided to stop watching future seasons with her husband, noting it occurred around season 6 or 7. “Amanda was like, ‘I’d rather not watch with you,'” he told Radke. However, he explained that he understood why Batula no longer wanted to watch certain episodes with Cooke, seeing it as a way to safeguard their relationship.
Despite this, Cooke shared that he would watch “tough episodes” without Batula by his side. Radke later agreed that watching some of his episodes back, especially when he was dating and later engaged to Lindsay Hubbard, was “really hard.”
Before Radke and Cooke discussed Cooke’s boundary with Batula, Radke pointed out that the interview took place on Jan. 3, which was just about two weeks before Cooke and Batula announced their breakup.
Batula Opened up About Changes in Her Marriage to Cooke Before Their Split
GettyBefore Cooke and Batula announced their split, the couple was joined by their “Summer House” co-stars to discuss the upcoming tenth season of the show. For Batula, she shared that the season would see her and Cooke “at a crossroads.”
We’re figuring out what we want out of life and out of the relationship,” Amanda told the outlet. “We’re sort of trying to talk through that and figure it all out in real time. It’s going to be a very raw season.
Batula went on to share that viewers will see how the couple navigate their desire for “different” things in life.
“Being on the same page with what our future looks like, what we want in life, where we’re going career-wise. … Things just sort of became different for us. I mean, honestly, I’m gonna have to watch it back and figure it out with everyone else, because I still don’t know! … I’m going to be learning a lot watching the show back.”
Interestingly, the article was published just one day after their split announcement.
“Summer House” season 10 premieres on Tuesday, Feb. 3, on Bravo.
