Brandi Glanville is opening up about a frightening new chapter in her ongoing health battle.
The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum revealed she recently underwent urgent surgery to remove leaking and ruptured breast implants, admitting she was “scared to death” before going under the knife. Glanville shared the update on Instagram, tagging her surgeon, Dr. Ariel Ourian, and captioning the post simply, “🙏🏼 @drourian.”
According to an exclusive interview with the Daily Enquirer, brought to readers by the National Enquirer editors, the 53-year-old said the February 3 procedure was necessary after doctors discovered her implants were not only leaking but potentially worsening her broader health crisis, per In Touch Weekly.
“I’m just scared to death,” Glanville told the outlet ahead of surgery. “It’s something that I could die from if I hadn’t figured it out.”
Silicone in Her Lymph Nodes Sparks Urgent Action
Per the Daily Enquirer, Glanville’s health struggles intensified after she noticed her right breast appeared smaller than the left, prompting her to schedule a sonogram. The results were alarming. She was told her left implant had a slow leak, while the right implant was completely ruptured, with silicone spreading into her lymph nodes under both arms.
“The woman [who] did the sonogram was like, ‘Brandi, you need to get those out yesterday,’” she recalled.
Glanville said she was informed that silicone buildup in her lymph nodes may have been interfering with proper drainage in her body, possibly contributing to the ongoing issues she has described with her face.
She explained that the implants were placed in 2007 after the birth of her son Jake and claimed they are no longer manufactured. With urgency, she sought out a specialist and ultimately chose Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Ourian to perform the explant surgery. She made it clear she does not want new implants.
“I don’t want silicone in my body at all,” she said.
Ongoing Health Battle After Morocco Trip
The surgery comes amid Glanville’s broader health struggles, which she has linked to a 2023 trip to Morocco while filming “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip.” She has publicly described experiencing facial disfigurement, blurred vision, muscle stiffness and what she believes may be a parasite under her skin.
Weeks before the implant surgery, Glanville debuted a refreshed look ahead of the Sundance Film Festival, thanking plastic surgeon Dr. Nicholas Nikolov for helping prepare her for the event, per People. She has also consulted infectious disease specialists and dental professionals in an effort to determine the cause of her symptoms.
Despite the physical and emotional toll, Glanville said she hopes removing the implants is a turning point.
“I want to look better again. I want to work again,” she told the Daily Enquirer. “I want to have energy again.”
