One of the iconic stars of Netflix’s brilliant horror mystery series “Stranger Things” is set to make his stage debut this fall.
Noah Schnapp, 21, played Will Byers in “Stranger Things.” Having appeared in “Bridge of Spies” and voiced the eponymous character in “The Peanuts Movie” in 2015 before his role as Byers, his subsequent credits now include the likes of 2018’s “The Legend of Hallowaiian,” 2020’s “Abe,” Hubie Halloween,” and Waiting for Anya,” and 2023’s “The Tutor.”
Schnapp will now make the next step in his career by taking to the stage in an exciting new show. However, it won’t be on Broadway. The young actor’s stage debut is, in fact, coming on the other side of the Atlantic.
He took to social media to let his fans and followers know about it.
Noah Schnapp Will Star in ‘Affluenza’
“Stranger Things” star Noah Schnapp shared the news of his stage debut with the 25.5 million followers on his Instagram account. He will be starring in Andy Sandberg’s “Affluenza” at Riverside Studios, which is located in Hammersmith, West London, rather than the traditional theater district of the West End.
The post includes the poster for the show, with an image of Schnapp in-character, wearing a burnt-orange sweater.
Schnapp’s caption on his post reads, “So excited to be making my stage debut this fall in London @mainstageseason” and “See you there tix in bio❤️.”
Per Riverside Studios’ website, the plot of “Affluenza” is as follows: “When a teen’s drunken car ride ends in devastation, the verdict comes down to one question – is it possible to be too affluent to know the difference between right and wrong? Inspired by true events surrounding a shocking legal defence, Affluenza explores the ripple effects of power and privilege.”
It continues, “Set against the ultra-wealthy social haven of the Hamptons, Affluenza raises thought-provoking questions about moral accountability, family legacy, and the American justice system. Do any of us truly understand the cost and generational impact of privilege and opulence?”
The show is the first of five plays launching the Mainstage 26-27 season at Riverside Studios. It will run for eight weeks from Saturday, September 26, until Saturday, November 21 this year (per the Mainstage Season website).
It’s not yet known who Schnapp is playing in the show.
Needless to say that Schnapps’ fans are excited to see him perform on a London stage.
