While you might associate Audrey Hepburn with New York thanks to “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” or Italy due to “Roman Holiday,” she happened to live, at one point, in California. Now, the gorgeous abode that she called home has be bought by a new owner.
“One of Hollywood’s ‘crown jewels’ has finally been bought out. The home that Audrey Hepburn once rented from Deborah Kerr has been sold,” according to Architectural Digest (AD). “The property, located in the affluent Los Angeles neighborhood of Brentwood, California, was initially listed for $10.9 million in June 2025—a first in over three decades. Now, the house has officially been sold for a discounted yet substantial price tag of $9.4 million.”
Audrey Hepburn’s Former Home Is Wonderfully Vibrant
“Built in 1939, the five-bedroom, six-and-a-half bathroom dwelling is situated behind a private gate near Brentwood Park,” AD explains. “Though the owners have remodeled parts of the house over the years, the 6,000-square-foot house still maintains its traditional Georgian design.”
On top of that, colorful and stylish aesthetic choices take the entire ambiance of the interior up a notch.
Additionally, the dwelling “include[s] a wood-paneled library with a fireplace, a conservatory with checkered floors, a built-in bar, and French doors that open to a balcony,” AD notes. “The entryway of the home has a Southern-style lanai that serves as a sprawling outdoor entertainment space with a fireplace and built-in ceiling heaters.”
As for the more private areas of the home, AD explains that “[a] primary suite was added upstairs with two spa-like bathrooms and separate walk-in closets with dressing rooms. … Guest bedrooms feature ensuite baths and a full-length balcony that extends from the upper level, boasting views of the lawn.”
“Additional amenities in the main house include a family room on the ground floor, a garage, and a secluded pool,” AD points out, while adding that “[a] garden with winding trails leads to the street below.”
Audrey Likely Lived in the Home While Making a Beloved Film
Although the property was rented by Hepburn and owned at the time by Kerr, it was also once the home of another figure in the entertainment industry.
Indeed, AD explains that “[t]he multi-million-dollar estate Audrey Hepburn rented from Deborah Kerr didn’t always belong to the late Scottish actor. It was originally owned by the late director and producer Edwin [H. Knopf]—the brother of renowned publisher Alfred Knopf—and his wife Mildred, in the early 1950s. Kerr later bought the house; although it is unclear when exactly the actor moved in, she likely resided there sometime in the latter half of the 1950s.”
As for the period that Hepburn live in the residence, her “exact timeline at the Brentwood home couldn’t be determined,” according to Mansion Global. However “she was photographed there by Sid Avery with her then-husband Mel Ferrer in 1957, Mansion Global previously reported. She would have been filming the 1957 movie ‘Funny Face’ at the time—playing, funnily enough, opposite a photographer named Dick Avery played by Fred Astaire.”
