‘Butterfly’ Soars: Dolly Parton’s Collab With Zac Brown Band Hits No. 1

With her legendary status, it might shock fans to know that Dolly Parton has only hit number one on the Country Digital Song Sales chart once- until now.

The Queen of Country Music just scored her second-ever number one with a new collab that has sales taking flight.

“Butterfly,” Dolly’s song with Zac Brown Band, opened at number one on Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales chart. And believe it or not, that’s only the second time the “I Will Always Love You” singer has held that spot.

The first number one was for “If You Hadn’t Been There,” a tribute she released earlier this year following the death of her husband of nearly 60-years, Carl Dean.

Zac Brown Calls Dolly Parton Duet a ‘Dream Come True’

The hit song is a single from Zac Brown Band’s upcoming album “Love & Fear.”

In a statement, Zac Brown said, “Getting to record ‘Butterfly’ with Dolly is a dream come true. She’s always been one of my biggest inspirations, not just as an artist, but as a person. Collaborating with her brought a whole new perspective to the song.”

The singer went on, “Together, we were able to capture the power of storytelling, weaving a narrative we hope will deeply resonate with listeners. Her voice brings so much heart and soul to this track and singing it with her was pure magic.”

“Butterfly” is deeply personal for Zac. He revealed, “This song was written for my kids for all the challenges life brings.”

Butterflies are Dolly Parton’s Trademark

Butterflies have always held special significance to Dolly Parton. In fact, she incorporates a butterfly symbol into all her ventures, including the logo for her theme park Dollywood.

Last year, she told Hello, “I used to chase butterflies off into the woods and get lost. Mom would get mad and have to come and find me.”

“One of my big songs, a number one hit I wrote 50 years ago, was ‘Love is like a Butterfly.’ Through the years it’s been my emblem, and even at my theme park Dollywood, the ‘w’ part is a butterfly.”

And in 2016, she told USA Todaym “We have to ‘Dolly-ize’ everything. Butterflies are my symbol. As a child, I used to get lost chasing them and got my butt whipped for wandering too far off. So we have butterflies everywhere.”

Dolly told Highway Queens, “Butterflies are colorful and bright and gentle. They go about their business and bring others pleasure while doing it, because seeing one flying about makes people happy.”
