Bobby Bones is ready for a reunion — and this time, it involves a trophy he wishes he never gave away.
The “Dancing With the Stars” season 27 winner is now hoping to get his Mirrorball trophy back after reconciling with former host Tom Bergeron. According to Us Weekly, Bones admitted he regrets sending the trophy back to ABC in 2025 and would gladly take it back if given the chance.
“It’d be nice if I could get my Dancing With the Stars trophy back,” Bones said, revealing he has no idea where it ended up after mailing it off. The decision came during a moment of frustration, but now that things have settled, he’s looking at it differently.
Why He Sent It Away in the First Place
Bones’ decision to return the trophy didn’t come out of nowhere. The drama dates back to comments Bergeron made about his 2018 win, which he described as the most “shocking” moment of his time on the show during an interview with Parade.
The reaction hit a nerve. Bones later said the comments were “hurtful,” especially coming from someone he respected. At the time, he defended his win, reminding critics that he showed up and gave the competition his all. “Am I supposed to not give it freaking everything that I have?” he said, per Us Weekly.
That frustration led him to send the Mirrorball trophy back to ABC, feeling like he wasn’t fully accepted as part of the show’s legacy. But the move didn’t sit right for long. Bones later admitted he regretted it almost immediately, recalling, “As soon as I put the stamp on it and sent it off, I was like, ‘God, that was so stupid.’”
The situation sparked strong reactions from fans, many of whom defended his win and encouraged the network to return the trophy.
Where Things Stand Now
Since then, the tension between Bones and Bergeron has been resolved. Bergeron later apologized publicly and privately, acknowledging that his comments were poorly phrased. “I felt terrible that the way I phrased my honest surprise at your win,” he told Bones.
As previously reported, Bergeron also clarified that his remarks were more about the show’s voting system than Bones personally. He even offered to return the trophy himself “on my dime” after learning Bones had sent it back.
Bones shared that the two eventually talked things out during a podcast appearance, where they addressed everything directly. “He apologized, and then I apologized for making him apologize. We cried. It was really great,” Bones said, per Us Weekly.
Now on good terms, Bones says he has no lingering issues with Bergeron. “We’ve talked, and we’re great again. I love Tom,” he added.
Outside of the DWTS moment, Bones is focused on his expanding media presence. His podcast, “Bobby Bones Presents: The Bobbycast,” is now streaming on Netflix, bringing in new listeners and bigger guests.
Still, there’s one thing he’d like to have back from his past. “If anybody’s watching this that has my Mirrorball trophy, please mail it back to me. I would love to have it back,” he said.
