Former “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird has a new business venture that is proving lucrative, but the fallout from creating adult content is that her daughter has been removed from her private school.
Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird Reveals Child’s School Issue
Efird told fans she took her child out of her school and transferred her to private school, but was later called into a meeting because her social media activity “does not align” with the school, Page Six reports. “I believe Ella deserved better than to be sitting outside in the front office, completely unaware that she was essentially being rejected from a school she was so excited to attend because of her mother’s social media presence,” she wrote. “At the very least, the situation could have been handled with more transparency and consideration.”
While Efird has now decided to homeschool Ella, she stood up for herself and her decision to create content for OnlyFans in a Facebook post on Monday, August 24. She also said her career should not affect her children or her ability to parent them.
“I’d rather explain to my children how I made money than explain why I was never there because I was working,” she began her message. She revealed that she has worked since age 11, often holding multiple jobs at once, and has always had responsibilities, including taking custody of her sibling.
She continued, “I’ve missed time with my own children because I was doing what society tells us is the ‘right’ way to make a living working myself into the ground just to keep everyone fed, housed and okay. And because of that, I will never shame another woman or any parent for how they legally choose to make their money.”
Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird Defends Career Choice
Pumpkin questioned how people can judge a mother who is simply trying to provide for her children, and that she was tired of living days where money was a struggle. “So if someone finds a way to make in a few hours what used to take them an entire shift or several days to earn, I’m not going to clutch my pearls because I don’t personally approve of how they did it,” she wrote. “The economy is hard. Raising children is expensive. Existing is expensive. Get your bag however you legally can. And here’s another hill I’ll die on: children do not belong on adult social media.”
The reality star also revealed that she should be allowed to do things outside of motherhood, and that “adults are allowed to have adult lives.” She concluded that she could be a good mother, “without fitting somebody else’s definition of what a mother is supposed to look like.”
She continued, “I’ve done the working all day, missing my kids, barely staying afloat version of survival. I’ll never look down on another mother for finding a different way. Pay your bills. Feed your babies. Protect your babies. Love your babies. Be present for your babies.”
