Derek Hough Shares His Honest Thoughts on the Super Bowl Halftime Show & Fans Agree

“Dancing with the Stars” fan favorite and judge Derek Hough has shared his thoughts on Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, which took place on Sunday, February 8.

Derek Hough Shows Support for Bad Bunny

Super Bowl 60 saw the Seattle Seahawks defeat the New England Patriots, but the game is not the only part of the sporting event attracting attention. Bad Bunny’s performance has divided Americans. However, Hough knows exactly which side he stands on, and the dancer showed his support for the musician in a powerful Instagram post

Hough posted a photo of Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, from his performance. The musician is wearing all-white while performing at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. In the caption, Hough shared his thoughts, writing, “@badbunnypr Super Bowl halftime. The only thing more powerful than hate is LOVE. Class act! What was your favorite part of the performance?” Hough is referring to the message Bad Bunny shared at the end of his performance, which promoted love over hate.

The post’s comments section was flooded with replies. While some fans said they didn’t watch and opted for the alternative Turning Point Halftime Show, others showed support for Bad Bunny. “Imagine not agreeing with, ‘the only thing stronger than hate is love.’ Truly a beautiful performance and message!!!” a fan shared. “YES, Derek, yes, and then I saw Gaga come out, and then my inner teenager was screaming seeing Ricky Martin! The message at the end was the best,” another fan shared.

Other reactions include, “It was inclusive, beautiful and full of LOVE!,” “The only thing more powerful than hate is love,” and “Love always win.”

Bad Bunny put on an elaborate show for fans, which included a surprise performance and dance by Lady Gaga. His show also included a live wedding and incredible dancing. This was a historic moment for Super Bowl Halftime Shows because it was the “first Spanish-language Latin solo artist to headline the Super Bowl halftime show,” NBC News reports.

Ahead of the performance, the Grammy Award-winning musician had been very secretive about what to expect. “I just want people to have fun. It’s going to be a huge party,” Bad Bunny said in a news conference on Tuesday, February 3, NBC News reports. For viewers who are not fluent in Spanish, he said, “They don’t even have to learn Spanish. It is better if they learn to dance.”
