Derek Hough is reflecting on the “Dancing With the Stars” season 34 finale and sharing how his next life chapter is his “most important one yet.” See what Hough said about his years on “DWTS” and impending fatherhood.
Derek Hough Reflects on His ‘DWTS’ Experience
On November 25, Hough took to Instagram with a video about the season finale of “DWTS,” reflecting on his years on the show — and looking ahead.
“I made this video a few weeks ago when I was prepping the 20th anniversary Opening performance. It’s that calm before the storm moment,” he wrote in the caption. “Stepping into this empty studio, I can almost hear the echoes of two decades of memories, thousands of hours of rehearsals, performances, and all the growth in between.”
Hough continued, “There’s been blood, sweat, and a few tears in this space, all to create and be part of a show that’s truly one-of-a-kind. I’m so grateful for this place that’s been home for 20 years, where I’ve grown up in every possible way.”
“And the next time I step into this studio, I’ll be a father, opening a whole new chapter, the most important one yet to come,” he added.
In the video, Hough points out the lighting and equipment in the “Dancing With the Stars” studio. “It’s unbelievable,” he said. “But I come in here and I think about … I’ve literally grown up in this room.”
He continued, “I’ve been coming in this exact same room for 18 years — literally a kid — figuring out how to choreograph, how to teach.”
He included a throwback clip from his first season of the show in 2007. “Learning, in this room, creating, so many memories, so many relationships … and we’re still here. It’s sacred. This is sacred space, it really is.” Hough explained.
“This is my life,” the “DWTS” judge shared. “This is my home. And I love it here so much. And I kind of like coming in here when it’s empty … it’s really special. I love it.”
