The downside is that it means the days are getting shorter and cooler as well, and you’ll want to keep the summer alive for as long as possible, which means you need some binge-worthy shows to help.
There have been some excellent movies with summer vibes released throughout 2026. Some may want an adventure, while others want a heartfelt story or a romance. There is something for everyone on this list, and there are suggestions worth trying even if you don’t think you like the genre.
‘The Five-Star Weekend’
Let’s start with one of the biggest releases of the summer, especially for Peacock! “The Five-Star Weekend,” starring Jennifer Garner, brought a story of grief, friendship, and forgiveness, while offering the backdrop of Nantucket.
Based on the novel of the same name by Elin Hilderbrand, the story follows Hollis Shaw, a famed cook who is shocked to find out her husband has died. Unable to move forward, she sets up for her friends to come to her place, where they can reconnect and deal with the loss. Secrets are revealed, as we learn that Hollis’ marriage wasn’t as perfect as it seemed to be.
It’s just been renewed for a second season, and it offers some of the best storytelling when it comes to female friendships. This is a must-watch for all.
‘Every Year After’
Prime Video had some excellent summer shows in 2026, and the first on the list to watch is “Every Year After,” based on the Carley Fortune book “Every Summer After.” While there are some major changes to the book, they’re going to help the story continue as a TV series, and they add a little more drama and intrigue.
When Percy returns to Barry’s Bay after 10 years of being away, she is thrown back into the drama and the gossip. At the same time, she needs to confront decisions she made in the past and her first love, Sam, as well as his brother, Charlie. It’s a sweeping romantic tale, and it’s always good to know that it’s going to continue. “Every Year After” has been renewed for a second season, and fans can hope for it to arrive next summer!
‘Elle’
Did you love “Legally Blonde?” If so, then you’ve probably already watched the next suggestion on the list of binge-worthy shows to stream. It’s all about the Prime Video release, “Elle,” which is a prequel series following Elle Woods. Yes, there is a second season coming, so you can binge without worry.
This isn’t just a cute summer watch. It’s a trip back to the 1990s, showing us when and how the young lawyer we all came to root for got her start. Elle’s whole life is turned upside down when she has to move to Seattle from Los Angeles. It’s a completely different way of life, and she finds herself on the outside, but everyone knows Elle can thrive when she puts her mind to it.
‘Outer Banks’
The fifth and final season of “Outer Banks” arrived on Netflix in August, and it was the story many were hoping for. Wrapping up the adventure of a lifetime, this was a chance to say goodbye to the Pogues. It may just be a “see you later,” as there is a spinoff in the works, but for now, it’s the end.
With five seasons to watch, it makes for the perfect of all the binge-worthy shows before summer ends. There are plenty of episodes to delve into, and a huge adventure to search for missing treasure. Along the way, family secrets and personal revelations come out, and it’s an honor to follow a group of teenagers learn more about life and survival than most others ever would.
‘Sterling Point’
It’s time to finish with another Prime Video series that proves the streamer has found the perfect audience. Another YA series, “Sterling Point,” has just been renewed for a second season, and it brings a story of grief and understanding, more than a thriller. It follows Annie Jacobson, who was raised with her twin brother by her adoptive father, only to find out that she has inherited a mysterious island in Canada.
Growing up in New York City, she is used to city life. Suddenly, she finds herself in the middle of seemingly nowhere, and while that can be a culture shock in realizing you don’t have everything at your doorstep, there’s a peace that comes with the distance. Annie finds new friends, handles the many family secrets she learns, and figures out what is next in her life.
