Jen Shah is officially a free woman, having completed her prison sentence after pleading guilty to commit wire fraud back in 2022.
Initially sentenced to six-and-a-half years behind bars in early 2023, her sentence was ultimately shortened. She was released from prison early in December 2025, and had been under house arrest (monitored with an ankle bracelet) until finally completing her sentence in full.
Her Life Changed Forever
The “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” alum opened up about where she now finds herself in an exclusive statement she shared with The Hollywood Reporter.
“Today marks the official completion of my sentence and the closing of a chapter that changed my life and my family forever,” Shah said.
“I made decisions that had serious consequences, and I accept those consequences. I’ve had years to look honestly at my own choices — the people I trusted and allowed into my life, the red flags I ignored, the questions I should have asked, and the moments when I should have stopped and listened to my instincts. I can see those things today in a way I couldn’t then, and I take responsibility for the decisions that were mine,” she continued.
She’s Taking Responsibility
Shah was charged with committing wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Her federal indictment accused her of engaging in “a wide-ranging telemarketing scheme that defrauded hundreds of victims … many of whom were over age 55.”
In her statement, Shah acknowledged that hers was not a victimless crime.
“Moving forward doesn’t mean forgetting that real people were hurt or treating the consequences of this chapter lightly. I carry that awareness with me, and I always will,” she added.
“But I’ve also learned that acknowledging your past doesn’t mean you have to live in it. I can’t change the chapters I’ve already lived, but I can decide what I do with what they taught me. Today, more than anything, I feel grateful, hopeful and genuinely excited about the future,” she continued, noting that she’s looking forward to having “my voice back and the freedom to decide what that next chapter looks like” as she moves forward.
“For a very long time, I wasn’t in a position to speak for myself while my story continued to be told around me,” she explained. “There is a lot people know about my story, and there is also a lot they don’t — including the reasons behind some of the most difficult decisions I made. I’m not interested in relitigating the past. I’m interested in what comes next. And for the first time in a very long time, I have my voice back and the freedom to decide what that next chapter looks like.”
As for what comes next now that she’s paid her debt to society, Shah hinted at some projects in the works.
“I’m ready to work. I’m ready to create. I’m ready to laugh, have meaningful conversations, reconnect with people and build things I’m proud of. There are projects ahead that I’m incredibly excited about, and I’ll share more when the time is right,” she added.
‘I Feel Blessed’
BravoIn her statement, Shah also noted that she and her husband, Sharrieff “Coach” Shah, had just celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary.
“There were days when I sat in my cell, away from my husband and my family, and prayed for the day I would be home again to celebrate an anniversary with him. This year, I am. I don’t know that I can adequately put into words what that means to me,” she said.
“After 32 years of marriage, I look at my husband and understand in an entirely different way what it means to have someone truly stand beside you — in the beautiful moments and in the ones you never imagined you’d have to survive. His love, loyalty, strength and faith have been among the greatest blessings of my life. Being home with him and our family for this anniversary isn’t something I take lightly. It is a gift,” she added.
“I’ve learned that winning doesn’t always look the way you once thought it would,” she said. “Today, winning is being home. It’s my marriage. It’s my sons. It’s my family. It’s my faith. It’s having another chance to wake up and choose what I do with everything life has taught me.”
As for where she finds herself right now, Shah admitted that she’s in a place of gratitude and hope for the future.
“Today, I feel blessed,” she concluded. “I feel free. And I’m excited to see what happens next.”
