‘DWTS’ Pro Emma Slater Talks Branching Out to New Creative Projects

Dancing With the Stars” pro Emma Slater is known for her fun routines and being incredibly patient with her celebrity dance partners.

In recent years, she’s partnered with lovable celebrity contestants like Andy Richter and Reginald VelJohnson. They didn’t bring home the Mirrorball trophy, but they told amazing stories through dance and warmed hearts around the country.

Lately, Emma has considered using her unique abilities to branch out and explore other creative avenues. See what she shared in a recent interview.

Emma Slater Wants to Explore Her Musical Side

Plenty of “Dancing With the Stars” pros have other hidden talents. Val Chmerkovskiy plays the violin while Peta Murgatroyd has her own line of beauty products.

Emma Slater loves to write. While speaking with Andy Richter, she expressed a desire to write something of her own someday.

“I would love to write musicals. I want to create products, and I want to create things that are slightly outside of just the dance-related arena,” the professional dancer said on “The Three Questions with Andy Richter.

However, Emma also added that she loves creating routines on “Dancing With the Stars” and would be heartbroken to part ways with the show.

“I think when I finish dancing, I will miss it so much that I’ll be like I want to choreograph and all those things,” she continued. “But I think my actual life will take me in a direction of creating in different ways. Like writing, I love to write.”

The British Dancer Wants to Stay on “DWTS” For as Long as Possible

While speaking with Andy Richter, Emma Slater also addressed rumors she was exiting “Dancing With the Stars.”

“Actually, someone came up to me last week and was like, ‘Are the rumors true?’ and I was like, ‘What rumor?’ They said, ‘Are you retiring this year?’ And I could see how a rumor like that would be starting, because they’re looking at me like, ‘She’s the old girl,'” Emma admitted on the show, with Andy noting that the ballroom world can be incredibly ageist.

The 37-year-old said she wants to stay on “DWTS” for as long as she possibly can. When she does leave, she wants it to be on her own terms.

“I would like it to be on my decision, I think. But I’ve decided that I’m going to expect to be there, and if and when they say I’m not invited anymore, I’ll conquer that when it happens,” Emma declared.

Fans can expect to see “Dancing With the Stars” return to ABC sometime this fall.
