If you used Vudu for years, you may have noticed that things look a little different these days. The entertainment media service is now part of Fandango, and the company is continuing to expand what viewers can do under its name. That includes a massive update of its free movie and TV offerings, expanding its ad-supported streaming service.
According to a July press release, Fandango’s expanded service “more than 3,500 hours of programming” were added and it “allows users to watch content for free without creating an account or logging in.”
Yep, there is actually a lot to look through here. And viewers can browse the free section fully in a guest mode. That alone makes this a pretty appealing option for anyone who does not want to sign up for yet another streaming service.
And honestly, the list of movies and shows available is pretty impressive.
What Movies & Shows Are Free on Fandango?
At the time of this writing, the main page featured movies, TV shows, and even sports programming. There are some newer titles mixed in with older favorites, so it seems like there is a little something for everyone.

Fandango says the expanded free library includes hit movies, fan-favorite franchises, popular television series, and sports programming.
Let’s be real, getting this much free content without having to create an account is a pretty nice addition for anyone who is constantly trying to figure out what to watch.
Of course, there is one thing to keep in mind.
The free streaming lineup is going to change. Fandango currently has a dedicated section for free movies and TV, and the website shows titles coming and going from the service. So, if there is something on the list that you have been wanting to watch, do not necessarily assume it will still be there next week.

And yep, you can still use Fandango for the things it has traditionally been known for, too.
The website and app continue to offer movie tickets, as well as video-on-demand rentals and purchases. Fandango describes itself as “the ultimate digital network for all things movies and TV.”
So, this is not Fandango replacing its ticketing business with a streaming service or vice versa. It is more about bringing all of those entertainment options together in one place.
What Happened to Vudu?
Now for the part that may have confused some longtime Vudu users.
Let’s be real, the name change did not happen overnight. Vudu became Fandango at Home in 2024 after Versant (the company behind Fandango) acquired the service. They then brought Vudu’s digital movie and TV platform under the Fandango brand. Existing users were able to keep their purchased and rented content as the transition took place.
Now, it seems like Fandango is taking that evolution another step further. The company has moved away from the Fandango at Home name and is bringing its free streaming, movie ticketing, and digital rental and purchase offerings together under the Fandango brand.
So, if you open Fandango expecting the Vudu of a few years ago, you are going to see some changes. But the basic idea of renting and buying movies has not simply disappeared. And for viewers, the biggest takeaway is pretty simple: there is now a whole lot more free content to browse.
So, if you have not checked out Fandango’s free movies and TV section lately, this might be a good time to take a look. Just remember that the lineup rotates, so if you see something you want to watch, it is probably better to watch it sooner rather than later.
