‘Dynasty’ Icon Joan Collins, 93, Shines in Sequins for Red Carpet Appearance in London

Joan Collins is no stranger to red carpet events, although she frequents them less often now that she is 93. She is also not a big fan. “God. Hate the red carpet,” she told Hello! Magazine in March.

After working steadily in the entertainment industry for decades, Collins is considered an icon, and when she attended the Variety “Power of Women: London” event at The Chancery Rosewood in London on Wednesday, June 3, she stood out from the crowd, shining in her beautiful sequined outfit.

Collins posed on the red carpet wearing a long-sleeve gold blouse, embellished with sequins. She paired the top with matching gold earrings, choosing an oversized pair to make a statement. The “Dynasty” actress also wore a black skirt and simple black pumps. She looked so elegant, and her elegance is something that fans have come to expect from her.

Collins is celebrated for her style, but she is also responsible for many of the clothes she wears. “Everybody who knows me knows that I design most of my clothes,” she told Hello! Magazine in March. She continued, “Some of the dresses that I wore in the first pictures of me in Hollywood were things that I designed myself and had made by this company of two young men called Darnells. They made loads of things for me because I didn’t like the stuff in the stores – I thought it was drab.”

Joan Collins Reflects on Her Incredible Style

In the interview, the ’80s icon also reflected on her collaboration with “Dynasty” costume designer Nolan Miller. “When I did Dynasty, Nolan Miller – who was tiny bit old fashioned in his designs – I got him into the 1980s with peplums, small waists, big shoulders, and big jewelry,” she said. “He took a lot of my ideas, and a lot of them are in the thousands and thousands of outfits I wore in ‘Dynasty.’”

In the same interview, she also revealed that clothing and fashion had been a love since she was around 10 or 11 years old, and that she drew inspiration from fashion magazines. “I designed dresses for my mother and my aunts. They all had a dressmaker, so I would design dresses for them,” she said.

When it comes to clothes, Collins will wear designer clothes, but she also likes high street. In an interview with The Sunday Times in September 2023, she admitted she shops at Target. “I love Target,” she said. Collins revealed she purchased “a leopard-skin bathing suit, which I photographed on Instagram,” and she “got so many likes — everybody thought it was Dolce.”

Collins likely has an incredible wardrobe of clothing and accessories that she has accumulated over decades. In her interview with The Sunday Times, she admitted to keeping pieces that she received from Gianni Versace while working on “Dynasty.” She first played the role of Alexis Carrington in 1981. “Oh, when I was doing ‘Dynasty,’ I would go to Paris sometimes, for Dior,” she said. “I knew [Gianni] Versace very well. Versace gifted me with several beautiful things that I still have.”
