Electra’s dress for the occasion was a black gown with sheer panels covered with intricate beading. The trumpet style ended with a tulle hem, creating a stunning contrast and adding more movement to the dress. To complete her look, Electra wore her hair down, styled in a middle parting. She carried a black clutch with a silver chain, and wore a delicate silver chain around her neck.

While on the red carpet, Electra also posed with other cast members, including Anna Faris, Marlon Wayans, and Shawn Wayans. Electra famously played Drew Decker in “Scary Movie” in 2000. When the film came out, there was much chatter about her performance and how she delivered the comedic goods.

“When I read the script, I thought, ‘What a great opportunity to show people that I have a silly side and that I’m willing to make fun of myself,’” Electra said in 2000, New York Post reports. “I didn’t really feel brave, because I am really silly and open like that when I’m hanging out with my girlfriends. People who know me know I have a sense of humor that can really push the envelope.”

The film was directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, who said Electra was their first pick for the role. “But Carmen was always our No. 1 choice,” he said. “We hired her, one, because she’s sexy and, two, because she was willing and able to send herself up.”

Despite being the director’s pick, it was harder to get the studio on board. “Miramax just didn’t want to cast her,” Keenen said, Entertainment Weekly reports. “They didn’t think she could do it. They thought she was cheesy, because — and this is no disrespect to Carmen — she was one of the first celebrities to be known more for who they were than for what they’d done, you know? But what they didn’t like about Carmen was what made her perfect, and that’s what I kept trying to explain.”

He continued, “I kept saying to them, ‘Look, trust me. If it doesn’t work, then we can hire somebody else, but let me at least shoot it.’ And so they finally gave in, and not only was Carmen amazing and really got what was funny about her [being the target], she just committed 100 percent to it.”

Of course, Electra would prove Keenen right, and she was the perfect person to play Decker. In an October 2017 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Electra reflected on the role and said she did not mind that it spoofed her career. She said she was “thrilled,” adding, “It was so fun to kind of laugh at myself. It’s good to laugh about yourself and laugh about life. I mean, laughter is the best medicine.”
