Eric Dane’s Family Finds Comfort As He’s Honored Among Hollywood Legends Despite 2026 Oscars Omission

Eric Dane’s family is reacting to the 2026 Oscars In Memoriam segment, in which the actor was not included during the tribute to all the legends in the industry who passed away this past year.

According to TMZ, the family is “bummed” Dane was not included, however, “they get it.” Specifically, a source close to Dane’s ex-Rebecca Gayheart told the outlet that they are “saddened” that he wasn’t included in the segment during the main broadcast, but they understand that “it was a year of profound loss for the industry.”

So with that, they “take comfort” knowing that Dane is honored on the Academy’s website.


Rebecca Gayheart Provides An Update On How Her Family is Doing Following Eric Dane’s Passing

In an interview with Variety published on March 11, Gayheart provided some insight into how her family is doing following the actor’s passing. Specifically, she said they are “still in a state of shock,” but is thankful to all the people that rallied around them.

“I just want to thank everybody for being so kind to us during the last couple of years. It’s been challenging and meaningful, and people are kind,” Gayheart Dane says.

“They’ve been holding me and the girls up the last two weeks, and I don’t think they’re going anywhere,” she added regarding the entertainment community. “I think they’re in it for the long haul. Hollywood gets a bad rap. That kind of makes me mad, because we have a lovely community of people, and I’m so grateful for them.”


Eric Dane Sent A Heartfelt Message To His Daughters Before Passing

Dane was featured in Netflix’s series “Famous Last Words,” in which he dedicated the interview to his daughters.

“Billie and Georgia, these words are for you,” Dane said. “I tried. I stumbled sometimes, but I tried. Overall, we had a blast, didn’t we?” 

And with that, he wanted to impart four lessons he learned.

“First, live now, right now in the present. It’s hard, but I learned to do that,” Dane said. He followed that up by telling his daughter to “fall in love. Not necessarily with a person, although I do recommend that as well. But fall in love with something.”

“Third, choose your friends wisely. Find your people and allow them to find you, and then give yourselves to them,” he continued.

And the last lesson: “fight with every ounce of your being and with dignity. When you face challenges, health or otherwise, fight.”
