The Hallmark original series “The Way Home” is ending after four seasons. Andie MacDowell has played Dell on the show from the beginning. As the series comes to an end, MacDowell shared something very meaningful about the show.
Andie MacDowell Gushes Over ‘The Way Home’ Set for Good Reason
During an appearance on “Today”, the actress admitted she loved being on the set of “The Way Home”.
“I love the set. That was, you know, it was like coming home. You know, you work really super hard for four months, and then you leave, and you’re not there, and you come back. And the set was so warm and beautiful. They did such, they really did a beautiful job,” she gushed.
MacDowell admitted it wasn’t just the set but also the crew that made the show extras special. The Hallmark series truly was a family, and one that has been together for the entire run of the series.
“We were very fortunate that this crew loved the job. And they would turn down other jobs to work with us,” the actress explained, adding that it was so wonderful to come back to a lovely set with the same crew each year.
MacDowell further shared that “There was a sense that you could really relax, that you were with your family.”
Andie MacDowell Honestly Loved Playing Dell on ‘The Way Home’
The beloved Hollywood star was thrilled to play Dell for four years and to do so on Hallmark. After all, MacDowell was in Hallmark’s first-ever original series “Cedar Cove,” which ran from 2013 to 2015.
“To get to work and play the same character for four years has been just a very positive experience in my life,” MacDowell spilled. “Living in a character for four years has been a great experience.”
The actress admited that there’s an intimacy that happens when playing the same character for so long. MacDowell felt a closeness to Dell because she knew the character as well as she knew herself.
She also explained that there was something so relatable about Dell, especially as she starts to own her mistakes with her daughter, Kat (Chyler Leigh), and bond with her granddaughter Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow).
There were times Dell wasn’t the most sensitive, which MacDowell feels is another way people can relate to her. Dell’s ability to apologize shows growth, and MacDowell gave her alter ego props for that.
Working on “The Way Home” has been a joy for MacDowell, and she’s excited for fans to see how it all ends for the Laundry family and the time-traveling pond.
