Candace Cameron Bure is far from the only actor to consider using Botox. Today, there are just as many actors who swear they don’t use Botox as there are those who are proud of the work they’ve had done.
Just a year ago, Salma Hayek was adamant that Botox had nothing to do with her youthful looks. “No Botox!” Hayek told Kelly Ripa on her podcast. In contrast, it’s common knowledge that Kris Jenner loves it and has even gifted it to family members.
The former Hallmark star admitted on her podcast that, although she has used Botox in the past, she hasn’t in quite a while.
“I see myself on camera, and it gets harder every year to look at it,” she admitted. “I’m fighting Botox right now. My flesh wants the Botox so bad, and I am doing everything not to have it.”
Candace Cameron Bure Reflects on Aging in the Spotlight
For Candace Cameron Bure, the constant pressure the entertainment industry puts on actors to look young is the cause of her inner struggle. “Every year that goes by, and I just had my 49th birthday, my wrinkles are getting thicker and deeper, and more and more.”
Surprisingly, comments from others telling her to get Botox aren’t even the problem. Instead, she finds herself comparing her own wrinkles to those of other actresses her age. And while she knows that lighting and camera angles help, she still feels self-conscious seeing her face change.
“I get these close-ups, of this really tight shot on my face in my movies, and the lighting helps it,” the former “Full House” star acknowledged. “They do me real good on the movies, just kind of soften that lighting and make it look as good. But I am struggling so badly to see myself age on camera. I’ve been on camera since I was five. But really, and I feel like I look pretty good, but it’s just like, from last year’s movie to this year’s movie, I’m like, ‘Oh, I see it.’ And it’s getting harder for me. And so, I really don’t want to have Botox.”
She Credits Social Media Support For Keeping Her Botox-Free
Bure credits two things with keeping her from getting Botox. One is her mom, who, at 75, is Botox-free and gorgeous. “I look at my mom. My mom has never had any work done, ever,” she said, while noting that her mother has “aged beautifully.”
The second reason is her fans. Bure acknowledged that “I am holding off solely because of all of you.”
“I have had countless, countless comments from people that say, ‘Thank you for not getting Botox,” she revealed. “Thank you for being a real woman. Thank you for letting me see a famous person, or someone on TV, or a celebrity, age with grace. Thank you for helping me feel okay in my own skin, because you’re not putting that in your face.'”
