As beloved Hallmark actress and director Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe battles stage three breast cancer, the mom of two continues to make the best of a difficult situation while also acknowledging the physical impact of her newest treatment “sucks.”
On November 18, 2025, Lowe posted a video from her infusion center, preparing to receive the second IV dose of a new chemo called Taxol, which can cause harsh side effects. Fans of the “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” star showered her with praise, awed by her positive attitude.
“This is me…reporting live from taxol round 2,” Lowe captioned her video. “I have a saline bag and I already feel better! I also have an electric heated blanket to combat the being of my hands and feet! Let’s see if it works.”
Crystal Lowe Hopes to Fend Off Neuropathy With Ice
Lowe, 44, revealed her diagnosis to fans on October 10 and promised to keep them in the loop on her journey, which she said would include two types of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, and radiation.
The star first underwent four rounds of Doxorubicin, a type of chemo nicknamed “The Red Devil” by many patients because of its bright red color, toxicity, and potentially harsh side effects, per the Moffitt Cancer Center.
Lowe has since moved on to weekly Taxol infusions, which can also cause a host of challenging side effects, including peripheral neuropathy, according to the Mayo Clinic. That can feel like burning, numbness, tingling, or painful sensations in the arms, hands, legs, or feet — and it can become a long-term issue.
In an attempt to keep neuropathy at bay, Lowe shared with a smirk, “I’m about to ice my feet and my hands– and that sucks.”
“The irony is that I go to the Korean spa all the time, purposefully to, like, sit in the ice box,” she continued. “I, like, pay for that! So I’m gonna reframe it and today I am lucky enough to get to ice my feet and my hands!”
After First Taxol Infusion, Crystal Lowe Admitted ‘It Was Not Fun’
On November 17, one day prior to Lowe’s latest round of chemo, the “Shifting Gears” director uploaded a video recorded in her car as she waited to pick up her daughter from dance class. and opened up about how hard the new treatment had been thus far.
She wrote in her caption, “Update…I do not like taxol. I’m hoping tomorrow is better now that I’m on the proper premeds. Cancer is….😩😩😩 I know I will get through. I know I’m a tough cookie. But…this sucks. And if you’re going through this too…I’m here…. We can sit in the together. And then get up and keep going as we do. ❤️”
In her video, she admitted, “I did Taxol this week and it was not fun. It was pretty rough, I’m not gonna lie.”
Lowe also said that before her first round of Taxol, she didn’t receive the correct “pre-meds” and was hoping that with a better pre-infusion plan, her side effects wouldn’t last all week again.
She also said she’s been trying to keep directing her next Hallmark movie virtually, calling that work her “saving grace” by giving her something else to focus on.
Crystal Lowe’s Fans Are Flooding Her With Support
GettyWrapped in a heated blanket sent by a friend, Lowe also said on November 17 she was receiving a bag of saline through her IV before her chemo, which is standard practice, but that it was helping her “pounding” headache.
