Former “Days of Our Lives” star Peyton Meyer is heading to Hallmark for its newest film, “Kentucky Roses.”
Meyer, who portrayed Doug Williams III on the long-running soap, is joining fan-favorite Andrew Walker in the upcoming film. Other cast includes Odette Annable, Ally Ledford, Brynn Thayer, and Gregg Henry.
So far, details of Meyer’s character are yet to be revealed, but fans are already looking forward to seeing him back in action. The film the actor’s first project post-“Days of Our Lives.”
Meyer’s made his acting debut in 2013, starring as Wes Manning in the Disney Channel series “Dog with a Blog.” He also had a main role in the tv series “Girl Meets World,” where he played Lucas Friar.
Other notable shows he appeared in include “American Housewife,” “He’s All That,” and “Versus.”
What is “Kentucky Roses’ About?
Walker exclusively told EntertainmentNow that they secretly filmed “Kentucky Roses” at the prestigious Louisville race track in October.
The actor also revealed that he and his best friend, actress Kelly Pendygraft, brought up the idea for the film to Hallmark.
“This film is about honoring Kentucky’s history and the people who genuinely love and care for horses,” Walker told EntertainmentNow. “It’s rooted in respect and tradition, and it also celebrates all the people behind the scenes who bring Derby Day to life.”
The upcoming Hallmark movie weaves together two timelines, shifting between the present day and 1932 at the iconic Churchill Downs. The film’s synopsis reads:
“In present-day, Sadie Moore (Annable) works in the Churchill Downs greenhouse, dreaming of becoming a florist and one day contributing to the Derby’s garland of roses, just like her great-grandmother, Gloria (Ledford). As Derby Day approaches, Sadie meets Ash Taylor (Walker), the son of Churchill Downs’ CEO (Henry), who’s been asked to do an emergency repair on the iconic Twin Spires after a storm left one damaged. Both Sadie and Ash feel the weight of family legacy and the desire to carve out their own paths. Sparks fly, and their budding romance is complicated by a long-buried connection between their families—a bittersweet love story from the past that threatens to repeat itself.”
Hallmark Media partnered with Churchill Downs Racetrack for the film, which was filmed at the iconic home of the Kentucky Derby.
