On Saturday, March 28, Jen Lilley stars in Hallmark’s new movie titled “A Royal Setting” with Dan Jeannotte.
Jeannotte and Lilley previously co-starred in “Paris, Wine and Romance,” which aired on Hallmark in 2019. Ahead of the new movie’s debut, Lilley opened up about reuniting with Jeannotte for another project.
Jen Lilley Gushed Over Her ‘A Royal Setting’ Co-Star Dan Jeannotte
Lilley shared some great stories and insight into reuniting with Jeannotte during the March 23 episode of the “Hallmark Mysteries & More” podcast.
Hallmark pairing Lilley and Jeannotte together again was clearly an idea that she loved. She gushed, “First of all, Dan is amazing. I can’t stress that enough. I was so glad to work with him again.”
She continued, “He is a tremendously talented actor. He’s got so much depth. You can read what’s going on in his mind, you know, through his eyes.”
Lilley added, “Dan’s also a very intelligent person. He’s got a great sense of humor. He’s a delight to work with.”
In “A Royal Setting,” Lilley plays a woman named Ruby who is a “world-renowned gemologist.” Ruby is hired by Prince Luca, played by Jeannotte, to “restore the crown jewels and design his crown.”
Some in the royal family, or working for the family, are less than pleased to have Ruby there. However, Prince Luca and Ruby hit it off and romantic sparks begin to fly.
The Duo Had Some ‘Hilariously Awkward’ Moments Filming Their Last Movie Together
During the podcast, Lilley shared a fun story about filming “Paris, Wine and Romance” with Jeannotte.
She revealed that she was pregnant with her first daughter, Julie, when she filmed the Hallmark movie. She was about five and a half months pregnant when filming began, and she wasn’t really showing a baby bump yet.
However, Lilley recalled, she urged production to “give me all the bags, all the purses, all the props, give them to me as much as you possibly can.”
She noted that filming on these movies is not done in order. So, while she wasn’t showing when filming began, she knew she likely would be before they wrapped.
Production apparently didn’t think this would really be a problem, but Lilley knew what she was talking about. She recalled, “Sure enough, it’s like halfway through the movie, my belly popped.”
During a kissing scene in “Paris, Wine and Romance,” Lilley said her baby bump made filming “hilariously awkward.” She explained, “When Dan and I kissed, it was literally, like, I had to push my butt out in order to hit his lips.”
Lilley also talked about how nice it was to work with Jeannotte again, because they already had a good rapport from doing their previous movie.
She explained that nearly anytime you get to work with the same co-star again, it’s easier because “the awkwardness isn’t there.” Rather, Lilley said, you tend to pick up the dynamic where it had been the last you worked together.
That was clearly the case for Lilley with Jeannotte, as she raved over her experience working with him throughout her podcast appearance. “A Royal Setting” airs on Hallmark on Saturday, March 28 at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central.
