Scott Wolf Bravely Opens Up About the ‘Hardest Year of My Life’

“Doc” star and Hallmark fan-favorite Scott Wolf marked the start of 2026 with a rare social media post to thank those who have supported his family through a tumultuous few months, during which his estranged wife Kelley Wolf’s mental health crisis played out publicly.

Calling his New Year’s Day post a “2025 recap,” Wolf shared a photo of an actual dumpster fire, followed by many sweet pics of him and the three kids he shares with Kelley. He wrote, “Grateful for the hardest year of my life. The curriculum was brutal for those I love most.”

He continued, “There was suffering, learning, growing, loving, laughing, crying. Mostly learning and growing. In other words, life. I think we passed. I love my people more than ever. I love people more than ever. I love my work more than ever. So the hardest year brought the most love. Life indeed. Wishing you all a 2026 full of love. ❤️”

Fans & Friends Flooded Scott Wolf’s Post With Support

Many of Scott’s friends and fans left supportive comments on his honest post, including his “Party of Five” and “A Merry Scottish Christmas” co-star Lacey Chabert, who left a red heart emoji. NBC correspondent Andrea Canning, who wrote the Hallmark movie, left hearts and prayer symbols: “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏”

Longtime friend and former “Extra” host Billy Bush, who spoke out in June when Kelley was placed under her first involuntary hold at a Utah hospital, wrote on Scott’s post, “You had to reach all the way into your tool box and turns out everything you needed was there. I love you guy.”

Bestselling author and family friend Jen Pastiloff commented, “That’s how I feel. Mostly poo with a few moments of magic. Love you!!!!”

Fans were thrilled to get a positive update from Scott, including one who noted the Counting Crows’ “Long December” playing in the background and wrote, “Perfect song. Maybe this year will be better than the last. A stranger is praying for your sweet family and that this year will be better than the last.”

Scott Wolf Dropped His Restraining Order Against Kelley Wolf in Early December 2025

Scott’s post is the latest sign that things are improving for the Wolf family. On December 3, People reported that a Utah judge had dismissed all protective orders against Kelley, 49, after an oral request to do so was made by Scott, 57. “The case was then dismissed,” People reported, “and any protective orders issued have been declared null and void.”

Months of legal proceedings and concerning updates from Kelley began after Kelley announced in early June that she and Scott were separating after 21 years together. Days later, she was placed in an involuntary hold after an Instagram Live video on her feed showed police officers detaining her at a resort near her family’s Utah home.

After her release, Scott was granted his first temporary restraining order against Kelley on June 25. The situation continued to spiral over the next two months, leading up to Kelley’s arrest on August 26 for doxxing friends and family members, including posting Scott’s personal phone number and screenshots of communication with their kids.

Kelley was charged with three misdemeanors — one count of electronic communications harassment and two counts of electronic disclosure of personal identifying information — and another restraining order was filed against her. Days later, she was charged with another misdemeanor for violating that order.

Kelley continued to struggle in September, especially after her lawyer requested that she no longer represent the “Real World: New Orleans” alum. On September 21, Kelley was admitted to a Utah mental health hospital after making threats to her and Scott’s safety, according to People. The outlet reported that days later, a judge issued “a court-ordered minimum 60-day involuntary psychiatric hold” and required Kelley to take prescribed medication while there to help stabilize her.

Scott remained mostly quiet about his family’s traumatic few months, but did share a sweet photo of Kelley for her birthday on October 14, wishing her a happy birthday. He did not include any additional photos of Kelley in his 2025 recap post.

Scott has been able to return to work, too. He filmed and directed new episodes of FOX’s hit show “Doc,” now in its second season. He’s slated to return to the series on January 6.

  1. Wishing Scott Wolf and his family a Happy New Year filled with good memories and lots of fun. Scott remained so good during that crisis series – he did not respond except when he legally had to for safety. He made sure that his children were safe. I think he genuinely was concerned for Kelly. Here’s hoping for the best for Kelly also.

  2. I am sure not making any more comments than you had to was the best decision. Your wife was saying and doing enough. Not knowing what the future was going to look like, saving any more would be that much harder on your kids. People talk in front of their kids, you are protecting them the best way you could. They thave seen enough with their mother that you have had to explain because of their ages. You are a good father and I am sure she was a good mother and she be again.
