Episode 5 of “When Calls the Heart” season 13 aired on Sunday, February 1, and Hallmark fans loved it. Some tender moments involving Little Jack had viewers feeling emotional, and a potential pairing had fans swooning.
In addition, one line seemed to be a fun nod to an iconic comedy, and viewers who caught it got a kick out of it.
The ‘Pivot’ Line Did not Go Unnoticed
At one point during the episode titled “Growing Pains,” viewers watched as Lucas and Edie tried to get some furniture moved. The pair struggled, and at one point, the idea to “Pivot!” was uttered.
“When Calls the Heart” viewers who also loved the sitcom “Friends” immediately picked up on the connection between the two.
During an episode of “Friends” that aired in February 1999, a scene that still gets fans laughing aired. Now, the writers of “When Calls the Heart” incorporated a reference to it in “Growing Pains.”
The iconic “Pivot” scene from the television show “Friends” aired during episode 16 in season 5. The episode was titled “The One with the Cop.” At one point in the episode, Ross (David Schwimmer), Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), and Chandler (Matthew Perry) tried to move a couch into Ross’ apartment.
The trio struggled to get the couch up the stairs. Ross desperately hollered to “pivot,” although the suggestion didn’t help much. Edit and Lucas also tried to pivot, with similar difficulties.
“Laughed at the ‘Pivot’ Edie said to Lucas on the stairs! They are a cute couple,” noted a fan on Facebook.
One viewer tweeted, “Lucas and Edit had the Friends furniture scene!!”
“The ‘pivot’ moment on the stairs 😂,” another fan called out.
The potential romance between Edie and Lucas is progressing slowly, and “When Calls the Heart” fans seem eager to see more.

‘Growing Pains’ Thrilled WCTH Fans With Progress on Many Fronts
The episode also featured great scenes with many other characters. Part of the February 1 episode of “When Calls the Heart” focused on Little Jack and the loss of his father, which fans found sweet and touching.
Overall, fans thought it was a great episode and admitted they feel they are always over way too quickly.
One viewer lamented, “The episodes are always finished waaaay too fast.”
