New “When Calls the Heart” spoilers from Hallmark star Chris McNally suggest that viewers may soon see intensified sparks between his character, Lucas, and Miranda MacDougall’s Edie.
Ahead of episode 3 of season 13, McNally talked to Swooon about what’s ahead for Edie and Lucas.
WCTH Turns up the Heat Between Edie & Lucas in Season 13
Edie and Lucas were deep in the thick of things with the fire that broke out at Goldie National Park. Despite the seriousness of the situation, McNally hinted that things will shift on some fronts as season 13 of “When Calls the Heart” progresses.
McNally teased, “We do turn the heat up between them, and we get to push farther and see what happens.”
“I think that we get to explore things we have not yet ventured into with those two,” he added.
Both Lucas and Edie have “their own traumas from the past,” McNally pointed out. Naturally, this causes some obstacles for the pair.
The “When Calls the Heart” star thinks that the trauma both Lucas and Edie have to work through in order to get close to one another is a realistic challenge that viewers will understand.
McNally explained, “It’s a natural thing, I think, to overcome fear of getting hurt.”
WCTH Fans Are Rooting for Edie & Lucas
As the actor noted, a romance with Edie would mark the first for Lucas since his split from Elizabeth (Erin Krakow).
McNally thinks that the draw Lucas has to Edie is very different in comparison to what he had with Elizabeth.
“With Edie, it starts off in a very different place. She’s an adversary,” McNally noted.
He added, “I think that beginning the journey by going head-to-head, or toe-to-toe, with two different minds on opposing sides creates an intriguing challenge and tension.”
In a previous interview with Hearties.com, McNally shared similar teasers about the progress Edie and Lucas will make in season 13.
He referenced the “journey” that Lucas and Edie are on, and teased that they will continue to work through the layers of trauma holding both of them back.
McNally didn’t want to share too much, he admitted. However, he provided hope for fans of the pairing. He suggested that Edie and Lucas will make “significant strides forward in each season with their relationship.”
Many “When Calls the Heart” fans seem ready to see more with this relationship. In response to the Hearties interview, one fan gushed, “I feel Edie is the one for Lucas. Just the way they look at each other the chemistry is definitely there.”
After episode 2, an Instagram commenter shared that they “really loved Lucas and Edie’s story throughout episode 2…most of all, the tender moment they shared together the next day in their office.”
The comment continued, “With each episode they grow closer and their relationship deepens. Plus, they just have that spark! I am officially team Lucas and Edie!”
Honestly I’m looking forward to seeing Lucas and Edie to grow closer together romantically, this is romance and woman Lucas should of had in the first place at least Edie knows what she wants and who she wants it with, while Elizabeth never did and I still feel that the writers shouldn’t have broken up Lucas and Elizabeth romance and shouldn’t have never gotten together romantically with Nathan it wasn’t even hinted at. Abigail, Minnie or Joseph should tell her about herself and the choice that she had made, Jack’s mother and brother definitely should of said something about them instead of keeping quiet about it.
