HGTV’s fan-favorite competition series, “Battle on the Beach,” is back!
Months after Alison Victoria announced the show’s cancellation after four seasons, the network revealed its return.
“I did a show called ‘Battle on the Beach’. I love that show. It was so fun and funny. And then all of a sudden, I watched the episode, I’m like, well, where’d all that [great content] go? I get it, it’s a lot of content to try to put into 42 minutes, but where is it? Where’s the great editing?” the “Windy City” rehab star said during an episode of her “Pap Smear” podcast, per Deadline.
She added, “You’ll lose a show that way. I truly believe that. And in fact, ‘Battle on the Beach’ did not get picked back up, which is sad, because it was like adult spring break.”
‘Battle on the Beach’ Returns
HGTVHGTV announced the highly anticipated return of the coastal competition series in a press release on Monday, May 11.
“HGTV’s epic surfside home renovation competition Battle on the Beach will head to the Grand Strand, South Carolina’s hot vacation destination,” the network said.
Season 5 of “Battle on the Beach” premieres its latest seven-episode season on Monday, June 1, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
“Armed with $100,000, seven weeks, and invaluable advice from their respected mentors, the teams will overhaul the dated digs while navigating unprecedented design challenges, including repurposing discarded roadside finds in their homes and swapping partners for the chance at additional prize money.”
‘Battle on the Beach’ New Cast
While Victoria is not returning to the hit series, Ty Pennington, “Rock the Block” star Sarah Baeumler, and “100 Day Dream Home” star Mika Kleinschmidt will each serve as mentors for the upcoming season.
Each two-person team will compete to transform “lackluster beachfront vacation properties—and the biggest homes in ‘Battle on the Beach’ history—into stunning waterfront escapes that deliver top reviews and top dollar.”
The teams are stacked with married couple Steven and Angelina Jacobs of Waterbury, Connecticut, husband-wife team Josiah and Anna Julian of Baltimore, Maryland, and mother-daughter duo Michelle Mueller and Sydney Lorence of Lincoln, Nebraska, competing for the top prize.
“Renovation Aloha” duo Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama will serve as judges for the upcoming season. The couple will determine which team increases the rental value of each week’s revamped space, with the winner earning a cash prize.
Behind-the-Scenes Secrets
One couple who competed during the show’s third season with mentor Taniya Nayak previously spilled filming secrets.
“I mean, we don’t have an NDA anymore,” Kelsey Mansignh said during an appearance on the “Mostly Thriving” podcast. “What ‘Battle on the Beach’ is, is they take three teams to somewhere on a beach. You have six weeks to completely renovate your house. Whoever adds the most value to their house at the end of it wins the grand prize.”
Her husband, Ryan Mansignh added, “Common sense-wise, no one can finish a whole kitchen in one week. So let’s say you’re doing flooring, let’s say you’re doing ceiling accent…We’re not gonna just stop the ceiling just for that kitchen, or that flooring just for that kitchen. We’re doing the whole house at the same time.”
Kelse spilled, “The whole house was renovated at once. It is edited down after to look week-by-week.”
