Ben and Erin Napier are bringing their HGTV hit “Home Town Takeover” to Canada, but their latest update about the show may leave some fans disappointed. While the fan-favorite stars won’t be hosting the series, they will appear on “Home Town Takeover Canada” in some capacity.
Ben & Erin Napier Reveal Why They Can’t Host ‘Home Town’ Spinoff Show
Fans will have a bit of an adjustment with “Home Town Takeover Canada,” as Ben and Erin aren’t hosting the spinoff.
In a December 2025 interview with CinemaBlend, Erin explained why they can’t be the show’s hosts.
“Our production company is Canadian. The people who make our show, they’re passionate about this Canadian takeover,” she shared. “But, because we are Americans, we are not legally allowed to host the show. We can only be in it as, like, guest stars.”
Ben added, “Yeah, a Canadian broadcast show has to be hosted by Canadian talent. 90%; I think 90 was the number. I thought it was just a majority.”
Erin noted that she’s “excited to go to Canada, because I’ve never been,” adding that “it would be magical, in the summer especially.”
So, who will be hosting “Home Town Takeover Canada”?
Ben teased, “We know who it is, and I can say that we really like them. It’s another husband and wife team.”
Ben & Erin Napier Announced ‘Home Town Takeover Canada’ Earlier in the Year
On June 3, Ben reposted a video from the Canadian television network Citytv. Ben and Erin shared the big news that “Home Town Takeover” was heading to Canada.
“Hey y’all. This is Erin and Ben Napier from ‘Home Town’ on HGTV. And we have got huge news!” Erin said.
Ben shared, “You’re getting a ‘Home Town Takeover Canada Edition’ on HGTV.”
Erin added, “That’s so exciting because small towns in Canada are going to be inspired to have a bright new future. And, who knows what town is going to get chosen?”
Ben echoed, “Who knows, yeah. Can’t wait to see what y’all do. Stay tuned.”
