Ben & Erin Napier Share Their Love Story
On December 6, Erin took to Instagram to reflect on the very early days of having a crush on Ben, fumbling interactions with him, and finally dating. The rest is history.
Alongside college photos, Erin explained in the caption, “The day before I actually knew Ben Napier was December 6, 2004. I had loved him for a long time, but he didn’t know that.”
She continued, “Freshman year I watched him eat with the person sitting alone in the student union. I watched him with his arm around pretty girls, always the president of the club or leading the student section’s cheering. He was huge. The way he lived his life, a human party. All 6’6” of him.”
Napier noted, “The few times we’d spoken, I fumbled it by not knowing how to say ‘hello’ without giving myself away, without telling him I’d like to marry him and have his babies. You can’t say things like that to an acquaintance. So instead I went with cool indifference the few times he tried to be kind to me.”
“On December 6, 2004 I didn’t know that in 7 days he would tell me he loved me, and that he wanted to marry me. *it’s love week,” she added.
Throughout the week, Erin continued the story, with a December 8 Instagram post that explained, “December 8, 2004. Spent the day with my celebrity crush. Wanted to kiss him. Too scared to go for it. We’ve all been there???”
She noted other details, including their night at a loud club together and their first kiss. “December 10, 2004. Best kiss of my life (up to then 😄),” she wrote.
In response to a fan who commented, “You must write a book!” the HGTV star shared, “We wrote a book about it together: ‘Make Something Good Today.'”
Other fans shared they were moved to tears by the love story. “Erin, this beautiful story of you and Ben brought tears to my eyes,” one person wrote. “May you forever be blessed with your love.”
Ben Napier on Life Before Erin: ‘I Had No Plans’
On December 6, Ben shared his perspective on his life before meeting Erin. “21 years ago, the day before @erinapier became an active part of my life, there was no tomorrow. I don’t mean that in a sad, negative way. I just mean, there was only today,” he wrote.
Ben continued, “I had no plans, I felt like going to class was a suggestion, I would figure tomorrow out when I got there. I didn’t lack focus, the focus was on making sure that everyone around me had a good time today.”
“Tomorrow would change everything because I would meet the girl who would be my future and the focus of every day,” he added.
