HGTV has another surprise up its sleeve! The network just announced that its newest renovation series, “Botched Homes,” has an official premiere date.

Similar to the E! series featuring Dr. Paul Nassif and Dr. Terry Dubrow, “Botched Homes” will follow general contractor Charlie Kawas as he rescues South Florida homeowners from their own disastrous renovation projects.
“Fed up with disastrous work that leads to unsafe, unlivable and unbelievable homes, Charlie will make it his mission to fix what others got horribly wrong in the eight one-hour episodes,” the show’s synopsis states. “Whether it’s inferior craftsmanship, wonky layouts or mind-boggling finishes—think doors and stairs that lead to nowhere, cabinets that don’t open and hideous design choices—Charlie and his team will right the wrongs of shoddy contractors and DIY projects gone awry, bringing function, flow and beauty to clients’ spaces in disrepair.”
“Known for tackling the area’s toughest construction projects, Charlie brings decades of hands-on experience and New York City grit to every renovation,” the network explained. “Driven by a passion for helping families reclaim homes that have become unsafe, unlivable or left unfinished, Charlie takes on one renovation disaster after another.”
During the series premiere — which is slated for Wednesday, September 2 — Charlie and co-star Courtney Ibars will help desperate homeowners with a kitchen overhaul. The space had “no running hot water, exposed electrical wiring held together by a stuffed snake and other bizarre designs.”
The renovation duo will also “transform a hideous and hazardous black-and-white checkerboard bathroom with no mirrors or storage into a functional space that better meets the homeowner’s needs.”
Who Are Charlie and Courtney?
Courtney Ibars is an interior designer based in South Florida. She’s amassed a large following on social media and founded Courtney Lauren Interiors.
“Plot twist: I’m not just watching HGTV anymore… I’m filming for it. 👀✨,” she shared via Instagram in February. “Something very exciting is coming soon and I can’t wait to share more. Stay tuned, it’s going to be good!”
Courtney’s counterpart, Charlie Kawas, is an award-winning carpenter and contractor.
Ahead of the series premiere, Kawas said, “Every home tells a story, and unfortunately many of these families were left with unfinished projects, unsafe conditions and broken trust after hiring the wrong contractor. Our job is to restore more than just the house. We want to give homeowners peace of mind by doing the work the right way and creating a home they can finally feel proud of.”
Charlie has made a splash as a design influencer with more than 100,000 followers on Instagram.
He often partners with major brands like Lowe’s on projects, including a recent Father’s Day ad for the retailer’s Black Friday 2025 deals.
The Florida dad, originally from New York, also runs his company, CK Construction, while making time for his growing social media accounts.
“Botched Homes” season 1 premieres Wednesday, September 2, at 10 p.m. on HGTV. Episodes will be available to stream the next day on HBO Max. Season 1 will consist of eight one-hour episodes.
