HGTV to Bring Back Shelved Show Before the New Year

After opting not to renew multiple shows and pressing pause on others, HGTV is bringing back Drew and Jonathan Scott’s “Don’t Hate Your House With the Property Brothers” five months after the series’ second season was originally scheduled to premiere.

On December 15, 2025, the network announced that season two will now premiere on December 29 with the first of eight new episodes, all executive-produced by the Scott twins.

Drew & Jonathan Scott Aim to Reduce Homeowners’ Stress Caused by ‘Bad Design’

The first season of “Don’t Hate Your House With the Property Brothers” premiered in November 2024 with six episodes, and attracted over nine million viewers, according to HGTV.

A second season was originally scheduled to premiere on July 30, but was quietly taken off the schedule in early July as HGTV opted to premiere the twins’ new series “Chasing the West” on that date instead, noting that “Don’t Hate Your House” would return “later this year.”

In season two, Drew and Jonathan will “fix problematic properties for frustrated families when moving isn’t an option,” per HGTV’s press materials. “They’ll confer with clients to understand their homes’ shortfalls, make a game plan to address what’s not working for them, and then stay within budget to tackle seemingly insurmountable renovation challenges and transform the dysfunctional houses into harmonious places.”

“Providing reassurance and encouragement along the way,” HGTV’s description continues, “the Brothers will employ their vision and expertise to enhance the function, floorplan and amenities in the homes—in hopes the updates also relieve the stress, anxiety and chaos caused by bad design.”

The Property Brothers have produced and starred in many different shows over the years, but especailly love the premiere of “Don’t Hate Your House.”

“We get the frustration because oftentimes the original layout found in older houses doesn’t make the best use of the space,” Jonathan said on their joint website. “Drew and I know we can make these homes so much better.”

Their clients will have a “range of budgets, design preferences, and structural issues to fix,” per their site, requiring them to tear down walls, rework kitchens, and rebuild “unsafe problem areas.”

“We see the potential when we walk in and find boxy layouts and isolated spaces,” Drew said. “Transforming a home to truly suit a family’s needs will create a better environment and happier home life for everyone.”

In the first episode, they’ll help Warren and Tricia, “a couple with a poorly renovated house that’s neither safe nor functional for their family. Their cramped layout has been bothering them for too long. With a narrow galley kitchen that’s tough to work in, a front door that hits right into their dining table, and a ton of surprise structural issues, this home has become a burden.”

“Don’t Hate Your House With the Property Brothers” season two returns on December 29 at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

  1. While I love the Property Brothers shows, I want a more diverse line up than 3 or 4 of their shows. give us some garden shows, like Curb Appeal. there is nothing in your line up representing the Garden part of your logo.

  2. I love how they said “renewed”. It is not hard to “renew” something that has already aired and been filmed over a year and a half ago outside the US.
