Jenny Marrs Reveals the Most ‘Insane’ Part of Renovating Each ‘Fixer to Fabulous’ House (EXCLUSIVE)

With seven seasons of HGTV’s “Fixer to Fabulous” under their tool belts, Dave and Jenny Marrs have fine-tuned their process for renovating each house featured on their show. But there are always unexpected plot twists, as seen during their renovation of 12 homes on season seven, which airs its finale on February 24, 2026.

The Marrs spend months planning, prepping, and executing each home renovation seen on their show. Though the process is more turnkey than it used to be, Jenny told EntertainmentNow that one thing that hasn’t changed is the rush to get a finished house fully decorated before the big reveal to homeowners, calling the final 48 hours “absolutely insane.”

Jenny Marrs Says She Usually Has a Team of 4 People to Decorate Homes at the Last Minute

Jenny and her design team are very methodical about planning the decor for each home, consulting with the homeowners, and plotting out every little detail before any demolition or construction happens, she told EntertainmentNow.

“I think that’s why people sign up for the show, is to take those 1,000 decisions off of their plate,” she said of the clients they work with. “I have a whole design questionnaire that they fill out, so I know what they want and like.”

Even with all that preparation, it’s still a mad dash to put all the finishing touches that make a house a home, from furniture to bedspreads to artwork.

“We typically two days to furnish the whole home,” Jenny said. “I know it’s insane. It’s absolutely
insane. Sometimes we get three days, but it depends. And typically, we’re revealing four houses in a
week. So we’ll start with the first one, we’ll load in, have two days to finish, then move to the next one, and just kind of roll over. It’s crazy.”

Jenny said she usually has a team of four people “who are literally moving boxes in and steaming curtains, you know? So it’s a group of people descending on the space, and typically, construction is happening at the same time, but somehow we get it done. But it’s not normal, and you would never actually move into your house that way.”

Dave Marrs Says Teaming Up With Design Partners Has Improved Their Timelines

While finishing the interior of each home may feel “insane,” designing the exteriors has become much easier in recent years, the Marrs told EntertainmentNow. To ensure quick turnarounds and quality materials, the couple typically works with preferred vendors like Cornerstone Building Brands, a home exterior manufacturer they have partnered with for the past four years.

“Their turnaround time is amazing,” Dave told EntertainmentNow. “They know this is crazy, because we really don’t have a huge turnaround time for anything. Like, we can’t wait if something’s going to take eight weeks to get in. So, we are able to work directly with their team and be like, ‘Okay, we need this color window, we need this color siding, we need a glass slider here.'”

“They’re (doing) the entire outside of the house, and those are things that, you know, we could get caught up on,” Dave explained. “We were having trouble a long time ago with windows, before we started this (partnership). Like, our entire production schedule was completely off by, I think it was six months, because of windows for certain houses. And now we don’t have that anymore, and we’re so grateful.”

During the season seven finale, the Cornerstone Building Brands team comes to the rescue again, outfitting the home with products including their Ply Gem MIRA French Doors and Simonton ProFinish Contractor Windows.

Dave & Jenny Marrs Say the Key to Their Sanity is Keeping Everything in Perspective

The Marrs typically have eight to nine weeks to renovate a home from start to finish, “from the day we first walk through to the day that we give it back to them,” Dave told EntertainmentNow, noting how important it is for Jenny and her team to make sure each aspect of the design, from bathroom tiles to paint colors, are on-site and ready to go.

“Then once we start working, there’s no holdups,” Dave said. “It goes as quickly as it possibly can.”

But he and Jenny have learned over the years not to take so seriously the twists and turns that inevitably come with their line of work.

“I think it’s just about being fluid with that and realizing, at the end of the day, it’s sticks and bricks,” Dave said. “We are not operating on someone’s brain. We are building a home. There’s going to be challenges and there’s going to be issues that you run into, and just working through those is the nature of building.”

Each home the Marrs fix up is featured on their website, with details and links for much of the design elements, inside and out. The season seven finale of “Fixer to Fabulous” airs on February 24 at 8 p.m. Eastern time, and will be available to stream via HBO Max.
