Joanna Gaines reveals that one of her scariest nightmares came true at their new family vacation home. The HGTV star shared how an unwanted visitor broke into the home after she just had a dream about it.
An Animal Breaks Into Chip & Joanna Gaines’ Mountain House
In a “Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House” bonus scene, Joanna and her husband Chip discover that a bear entered their family home.
“We had a visitor over the weekend,” their contractor Steve tells them.
A bear entered through the kitchen window, left his paw prints on the wall, “wandered around the house,” and then exited back the way he came in. Steve said he made eye contact with the animal and then it left.
“I knew you were going to say bear,” Joanna said.
As Joanna listened to the details of the bear encounter, she put her head in her hands. Chip, however, marveled at how the animal got through such a small space.
She envisioned cooking in the kitchen and walking into another room to find a bear. “Do you understand what that would actually do to my physical being?” she asked.
After Steve told her, “That happens often up here,” Joanna responded, “I don’t like hearing that.”
In a talking head interview, Joanna noted, “What he doesn’t know is he’s touched on a very deep-seated fear in my heart and soul.”
Next, they checked out the outside area, where the bear had left prints and broke the window framing a bit.
“I don’t want a bear on my porch,” Joanna said, then asked for fencing to be installed.
Joanna Gaines Had a Nightmare About a Bear
In the video, Joanna explained how she had a nightmare about a bear.
“The day we were leaving to come to Colorado, I had woken up from a dream — a nightmare,” she explained in a talking head segment.
She continued, “This is a recurring dream that I have, and it was a bear that was chasing me. And it chased me into this home.”
“I’m saying all this because it was a foreshadowing that probably while I was having that dream, that bear was climbing through that little window into this house,” Joanna shared.
On December 16, Chip took to Instagram to post a video of Joanna standing on the porch asking if there’s a bear in the woods.
The comments section lit up with reactions to Joanna’s worry, with one person writing, “Welcome to Colorado life!”
“I’m with Joanna!” another fan wrote. “No thank you!”
Another fan advised, “Don’t leave any food out and don’t feed the bear.”
