Joanna Gaines is getting in the holiday spirit, and fans are praising the “Fixer Upper” star for being “relatable” with her home decor.
The HGTV alum, 47, took to social media to show the progress of decorating her home for the holidays, laughing at herself for only adding ornaments to the front of her Christmas tree.

Joanna and her youngest son, Crew, enjoyed a mother-son date night as they decked the halls of their Waco, Texas, farmhouse.
“He wanted to set the table and then he wanted to put up a tree,” the mother of five shared via Instagram on Friday, November 7. “I like to pace my Christmas decorating and do a little adding every weekend until our big mama live tree arrives late November. This is my vintage inspired tree- feeling the need for some nostalgia and whimsy. Full transparency, I focused only on the front and ran out of ornaments. The sides are bare,” she explained, adding a crying laughing emoji.
Hours later, Joanna shared a close-up clip of her stunning tree…including the bare backside.
“Well shoot, she looks great from the front,” she laughed. “I’m probably gonna just tell my kids it’s the new trend.”
Fans Are On Board for Joanna to Make This a Holiday ‘New Trend’
Fans of the Magnolia Network owner star flooded the comments of her Instagram post, acknowledging how relatable” her mishap is as a busy mom.
“The fact that Joanna Gaines has only the front half of her tree decorated, gives me a new sense of hope for myself,” one fan commented.
“This is the most relatable post, thanks JoJo for reminding us all why we love you!” another laughed.
Some followers even claimed to have started this trend “years ago.”
“Like I always say, ‘The back of the tree is none of my business!'” a third noted.
“My first thought was, ‘Oh my gosh, Joanna Gaines decorates the front of her trees like me.’ It made me feel so good!!” yet another fan chimed in.
One fan, however, didn’t have great luck following this trend in the past.
“I did this once and my tree toppled over in the middle of the night,” she wrote. “You’d never guess but the weight of those bulbs add up!”
Unfortunately for fans who were hoping for this trend, it seems Joanna isn’t planning on leaving her tree as is.
“From this angle you can see the party in front…need to go find more ornaments,” she wrote in her Instagram Story with a photo of the tree from the perfect angle.
