Hunky handyman and interior designer Jonathan Scott appears to be paving a new path for himself after 15 years of appearing side-by-side with his brother, Drew Scott, as one half of HGTV’s beloved home renovation duo known as the “Property Brothers.”
On August 14, 2026, Jonathan announced that he’s written a new book, the first without his twin brother as a co-author, called “The Ultimate Renovation Planner and Organizer.” The news comes nearly two months after Jonathan revealed he was filming the pilot of a new daytime talk show with CBS, which he’ll host beginning in the fall of 2027 if all goes well, per Deadline. All very exciting — but what does all of this mean for the beloved Property Brothers?
Jonathan Scott Have Created a Multibillion-Dollar Business
HGTVThe Scotts, both 48, have been staples on HGTV since 2011, and have grown their “Property Brothers” brand into a multibillion-dollar empire, according to Inc. In addition to hosting many renovation series, the brothers have a booming home goods business, develop and produce TV shows for themselves and others, and earn millions for endorsing products.
They’ve also written books together, including 2016’s “Dream Home: The Property Brothers’ Ultimate Guide to Finding & Fixing Your Perfect House” and the 2017 memoir “It Takes Two: Our Story,” both which were New York Times bestsellers. In 2018, Jonathan and Drew released their first children’s book, “Builder Brothers: Big Plans.”
His potential syndicated talk show, meanwhile, would feature celebrity interviews, cooking segments, DIY tips, and more — but without Drew by his side.
Jonathan Scott Says ‘Property Brothers’ Will Continue Even With His New Projects
While Drew’s expertise is in real estate, Jonathan is branching out with his new book to leverage his decades of experience as a licensed contractor and designer. Published as a binder, the interactive book will include checklists, worksheets, charts, folders, and quizzes to help people managing their own renovations stay on task and on budget. The book will be available on January 26, 2027.
Although Jonathan seems to be focusing on solo work these days, he assured fans in his June post about his new the talk show — called “Better! with Jonathan Scott” — that he would remain committed to “Property Brothers.”
He explainined, “This project feels like a natural next chapter for me. Everything I’ve learned from renovating homes, meeting incredible people, and hearing your stories over the years has led here. And while Property Brothers and home renovations will remain a huge part of my life (don’t worry!), this gives me a chance to bring those lessons into a whole new conversation.”
Drew has also dived into projects on his own, including becoming a partial owner of the Vancouver Giants hockey team alongside longtime friend and fellow Canadian native Michael Bublé. The duo is even filming a reality show together called “Hometown Giants.”
In 2024, Drew told InStyle that he and Jonathan are free to explore separate interests and can still maintain their family business, noting, “It’s funny how so many people think twins have to be together, have to do everything together. Some people don’t even see us as individuals, which — it’s just funny to us. But we love working together.”
It’s unclear, though, how much time those separate interests will allow for filming new HGTV shows. Drew and Jonathan served as the finale judges on “Rock the Block” season 7 earlier this year, and “Property Brothers: Under Pressure” wrapped its first season in June. But no additional HGTV shows starring Drew and Jonathan have been announced for the remainder of 2026.
