Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas are revisiting one of their favorite designs from “Bargain Block.” HGTV canceled the series in 2025, so they’ve been taking a trip down memory lane, pointing out the highs and lows of some of their projects.
Keith Bynum & Evan Thomas Call French Country House Design a Favorite
On April 21, Bynum and Thomas shared a video on Instagram of them revisiting a “Bargain Block” home with a French design flair.
“What were we thinking?! This time it’s the French country house!!” Bynum wrote in the caption.
He added, “Still one of my all time favorite designs! This house really helped me live out my @drewbarrymore fantasy in Ever After! What did yall think of this one??”
In the video, Bynum notes, “I love this house.”
Thomas shares, “Today, we are looking at the French Country. Now this, I think, was a good one in one of our early days.”
Bynum notes, “This was one of the best designs I think we’ve ever [done].”
As they look at each room, Thomas calls it “very elegant,” noting that the kitchen with an adorable eating nook is “beautiful.”
“That kitchen is so dreamy,” Bynum adds.
Thomas gives some inside information about the gorgeous kitchen renovation, noting “that whole thing is less than $1,000.”
As for the bedroom sporting a mountain mural, Bynum included a speech bubble reading, “Don’t judge me!”
He explains, “I’m not going to take credit for that one,” as Thomas shares it was a “20 minute thing when the cameras are like, ‘you need to be done now!'”
“The interior of that house was so cozy. It was my ‘Ever After’ fantasy come to life,” Bynum adds. “One of my favorite movies ever is ‘Ever After’ and the chateau that they lived in is still my dream house, so that was a big influence on this design.”
Thomas agrees, “It was cute.”
Fans flooded the comments section to share how much they loved this design.
“This was my favorite of all OMG I love it! Miss you guys, stay well,” one fan wrote.
Others gushed, “I loved that house 😍” and “That thread of green throughout the house…!!!”
“I miss you 😢 and this was one of my all time faves!! Loved it,” one fan noted. “I rewatch this episode a lot as I just adored this cottage!!!”
One fan asked, “Any chance you will be back on air soon? We miss you!!!!”
Bynum & Thomas Previously Looked at the ‘Bargain Block’ Weird House
On April 14, Bynum and Thomas took to Instagram to check out their work on the “Weird House.”
“Evan and I take a look back at some of our best anddd worst designs!! I loved this house sooo much! Evan is a harder sell,” the caption explained. “What did yall think of the weird house?!”
In the video, they pointed out some of the unique features, including a window shaped like the letter ‘D’ and the use of fun colors. Thomas noted that the sherbet-colored kitchen “looks like Barbie’s Dreamhouse.”
Some of the other eclectic details included a bathroom with hand painted glow-in-the-dark flowers and a bizarre cowboy altar surrounded by candles in the master bedroom.
“Obviously, Keith was just doing something for fun and doing something basically for the cameras,” Thomas revealed. “But it was, I feel like, executed well … for as weird and strange and out there as it was.”
Bynum added, “Yeah, it was definitely weird … and I think it lived up to its name. And I think it was fun to find somebody that actually loved it.”
