Nicole Curtis‘ show “Rehab Addict” was canceled after a video of the HGTV star using a racial slur surfaced online. Curtis is opening up following the aftermath of the situation and sharing what’s next for her.
Nicole Curtis Speaks Out After ‘Rehab Addict’ Video Leaked
On February 17, Curtis took to Instagram to reflect on her show, noting those who have shown her support after RadarOnline published the video.
“So many moments of kindness have come my way this week via my amazing family, my friends, my neighbors, my fans, our city leaders & A lot of folks that were in my DMs who chose to have calls with me to find a pathway of understanding in all of this,” she wrote in the caption.
Curtis continued, “In 15 years of this ‘little’ show, we have brought approx 20 million dollars into distressed neighborhoods between Minneapolis and Detroit (even 6 episodes in Akron (Lebron work) saved so many historic properties, inspired saving of so many more and most importantly, to us we’ve raised money, awareness & change for pediatric cancer, military veterans, school programs, animal rescue, elderly (to name a few).”
“As we’ve always said — you never have a bad day helping others and giving your time to those who need it,” she noted. “We did this all, my small crew w/o fanfare or catering — just a group of amazing, dedicated, passionate creatives who love saving beautiful works of art. (And we don’t get paid residuals).”
The home improvement star shared that she was at a job site in Detroit that day. “Yes, we still do this work without a network time slot — always have, always will,” she explained.
“We are ever more committed and excited with moving on in this new direction,” Curtis wrote. “As I’ve said in the past few days, reach out let’s have a conversation. I’m reading the DMs — ignoring the headlines. I’m turning [off] the comments — if the hate was just geared at me, I could take it, but the hate toward each other is exactly what we should all be working diligently to work through — go back to human connection, actual conversations instead of internet tit for tat. Let’s do better together ❤️.”
Curtis ended by noting, “Send some love out into the world & to anyone using my name as a pass for calling another human this — don’t. I wasn’t and I will never condone it … ever.”
‘Rehab Addict’ Star Includes Disclaimer About Leaked Footage
Curtis also took the opportunity to lay out the facts about her work, in a “disclaimer to those spreading misinformation.”
She wrote, “4 years ago — I was not contracted to any network or show (think free agent in sports). Any crew hired, paid by me, the footage is mine. My crew didn’t steal my footage.”
“I don’t have ‘sets.’ I own all my properties,” Curtis continued. “In other words, no one is my ‘boss,’ I’m the boss. I create product & sell the rights of it & my likeness for limited contracted use.”
She added, “Someone personal (not crew) had access, demanded $, I didn’t pay — here we are.”
Curtis apologized in a February 12 Instagram post, writing, in part, “I am sorry. I am filled with remorse and regret, just as much as I was one second after that word was said 4 years ago in 2022.”
The post was flooded with comments, with one fan noting, “The next big rehab will be your reputation. If anyone can do it: it’s you. Continue to do good work. Continue to make spaces for people. I believe in forgiveness. Like they always say: actions speak louder than words.”

I am behind you 100%. I pray you continue to do as you do and we get to see some finished projects along the way!
