Ty Pennington celebrated his birthday over the weekend, but it wasn’t all presents and cake. The HGTV star asked for prayers on his special day after his beloved rescue dog suffered a health crisis.
Ty Pennington Request Prayers for His Birthday
“Welp, I made it to 61 today… and it wasn’t quite the birthday weekend we had planned,” Pennington shared via Instagram on October 19 alongside photos with his pup. “Spent several hours at the emergency vet yesterday. Instead of birthday wishes I’m gonna be selfish for a moment and ask that you send Dory some healing thoughts and prayers.”
The “Rock the Block” host continued, “This little girl is dealing with a bad back, and we’re really hoping she doesn’t need a second surgery.”
“I love her more than anything, she’s my #souldog as they say,” he ended his post, adding a praying hands emoji, a red heart and a dog emoji.
It seems Pennington’s request was heard as fellow HGTV stars and famous friends flooded the comments section with thoughts and prayers.

“Fixer to Fabulous” couple Jenny and Dave Marrs each shared kind words.
“Happy birthday, Ty! Praying for your sweet Dory!” Jenny wrote, while Dave added, “Happy birthday buddy. Prayers for Dory.”
“Sending lots of love her way,” Taniya Nayak, who has starred on “Battle on the Beach” with Pennington, wrote.

Ty Pennington Previously Opened Up About Beloved Dog Dory
Weeks before his 61st birthday, Pennington spilled to Parade Pets on his love for his “long-haired, strawberry blonde wiener dog mix.”
“Dory and I have moments where we just lick each other’s faces for almost three minutes. It’s pretty disgusting to anyone who doesn’t understand dog love,” he said in an interview published September 30. “
He explained that Dory was previously staying with his wife’s mom before coming to live with him.
“I’d heard, ‘You don’t understand, you’re going to love this dog so much,'” he recalled. “And I was like, yeah, dogs are cute, but I had no idea I would fall for her. It’s an absolute love affair.”
