Ty Pennington is breathing a sigh of relief days after asking for prayers for his birthday.
The HGTV star, 61, shared a hopeful update on his beloved dog Dory’s health.
Ty Pennington’s Dog Dory Is on the Mend
Pennington turned 61 last month, and he used his birthday as an opportunity to ask for prayers for his beloved pup.
“Welp, I made it to 61 today,” the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” star wrote in a social media post on October 19. “It wasn’t quite the birthday weekend we had planned. Spent several hours at the emergency vet yesterday. Instead of birthday wishes I’m gonna be selfish for a moment [and] ask that you send Dory some healing thoughts and prayers.”
He added, “This little girl is dealing with a bad back, and we’re really hoping she doesn’t need a second surgery. I love her more than anything, she’s my #souldog as they say 😔🙏🏼❤️🐶”
Now, just two weeks later, Pennington offered fans a sign of hope for the rescue pup.
“Dory (and Phoebe!) wanted to thank everyone for all the well wishes,” Pennington shared via Instagram on Monday, November 4. “She’s been resting lots and was prescribed an additional anti-inflammatory, which thankfully brought back her little personality.”
He continued, “Her back legs aren’t working so great right now, but we’re hopeful that with lots of rest and therapy, she will regain her strength.”
Pennington shared a series of photos from Dory’s recovery, including a photo cuddled up with her sister Phoebe.

The “Rock the Block” star was flooded with well-wishes from fellow reality stars and fans alike.
“Thanks for the update, we are rooting for you Dory and sending all the,” “100 Day Dream Home” star Mika Kleinschmidt commented on Pennington’s post.
Former “Trading Spaces” host Paige Davis wrote, “Bless her wittle little heart. 🐾 Sending lots of healing love to your warrior princess.”
Other followers thanked Pennington for the update, while others sent encouraging words for the little pup.
“She’s sooooo cute!!! I hope she’s up and fully running soon!” one follower wrote. “She’s got this! ❤️❤️” another added.
The HGTV icon recently gushed about his “absolute love affair” with Dory in an interview with Parade Pets.
“Dory and I have moments where we just lick each other’s faces for almost three minutes,” Pennington admitted in September. “It’s pretty disgusting to anyone who doesn’t understand dog love.”
