Kim Kardashian is sharing a softer side of motherhood. The reality star and SKIMS founder, 44, opened up on the October 15 episode of Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast, proudly reflecting on how her 12-year-old daughter, North West, has followed in her footsteps with a love for beauty and self-expression.
“I’ve had those conversations with North about makeup because she loves her lip liner,” Kardashian said, adding that her home is always open to her children and their friends. “And she’ll be like, ‘Mom, I grew up my whole life sitting in your lap while you’re getting your makeup done, watching you do it.’”
North’s Early Passion for Glam & Special Effects Makeup

“I love that they’re not grown up,” Kardashian said with a laugh. “What they do on their weekends is, they go in the room and do all their makeup — but not any makeup, special effects makeup, which North is perfecting through classes.”
Parenting in the Public Eye
The reality star admitted that raising a confident tween in the spotlight hasn’t always been easy. When photos surfaced of North wearing a dermal piercing in Rome last month, Kardashian faced criticism online about whether the look was age-appropriate.
Still, Kardashian said her daughter doesn’t let negativity affect her. “She’s really mature in one sense where she’ll be like, ‘Mom, I saw this and I don’t really care that they don’t like my blue hair or this or that.’ She’s really confident and says, ‘I probably wouldn’t be hanging out with those people.’”
Kardashian also acknowledged her own learning moments as a mom. “I’m like, okay, we’re never wearing that again. Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world,” she said. “As a mom, you’re kind of learning at the same time.”
North’s Creativity Continues to Inspire Her Mom
In a September interview with Complex Style, Kardashian said her daughter constantly inspires her when it comes to fashion and self-expression.
“She has a really unique style. She puts me on to so many brands. She just loves what she loves,” Kardashian shared. “It’s really fun to see someone be so creative and know herself so much.”
In addition to North, Kardashian shares sons Saint, 9, and Psalm, 6, and daughter Chicago, 7, with ex-husband Kanye West.
