Music lovers, this is your moment. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has officially revealed the 2026 nominees. And yep, you read that right; fans once again get a say in who makes the cut.
On Wednesday, February 25, the Rock Hall dropped this year’s shortlist, stacked with heavy hitters across genres and generations. If your playlist is anything like ours (read: chaotic but iconic), you’re probably already forming strong opinions.
Rock Hall reminds us that “to be eligible for nomination, an individual artist or band must have released their first commercial recording 25 full years prior to the year of Induction.” Basically, if your favorite hit dropped in the late ’90s, the clock is ticking.
Who’s on the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Ballot?
The nominees this year are a wild mix, ranging from legends to first-timers. “The Nominating Committee selects each year’s Nominees from among artists eligible for Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame,” according to Rock Hall. And this group of around 40 music industry pros (including inductees, academics, and journalists) clearly knows their stuff.
Nominees include Mariah Carey, Iron Maiden, Shakira, Oasis, Lauryn Hill, P!NK, and Wu-Tang Clan.
Details: How Fans Can Vote
This is where it gets fun. Since 2012, fans have had the opportunity to vote from the list of nominees. Who do you want to see inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? And that chance is live now at vote.rockhall.com. Voting closes April 3, 2026, so there’s still time to make your voice heard.
It’s worth noting that the fan vote is just one piece of the puzzle. “Ballots are then sent to more than 1,200 historians, members of the music industry and artists—including every living Rock Hall inductee, says Rock Hall. “And the five to seven performers receiving the most votes become that year’s induction class.” Your vote contributes to the official ballot. Which is then combined with the wider voting pool to decide the final inductees.
When Do the Results Drop?
If you’re already refreshing the site, patience is required; but not for long. The 2026 induction class is expected to be announced later in April. Alongside the ceremony’s location (they typically rotate cities) and date. Historically, the reveal brings plenty of fan debate and celebration posts. Plus, a little side-eye from stans whose favorites didn’t make it.
