Beloved Rock Singer Passes Away in Tragic Car Crash Before Band’s First US Tour Gig: Tributes Flood In

Rising rock star Ann Everton, best known as one half of the experimental rock duo Darsombra, has tragically passed away at the age of 43. Sun reported that the musician died in a multi-vehicle crash in upstate New York on October 3 while traveling with her husband and bandmate, Brian Daniloski, to the band’s first U.S. tour show.

According to the New York State Police, the couple’s van collided with a police car that had pulled over with its emergency lights flashing. As per Sun, Everton was pronounced dead at the scene. The state trooper conducting the traffic stop and Daniloski were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Tributes Pour In From Family & Friends

Daily Star reported that Jon Garrett, Everton’s brother-in-law, confirmed the heartbreaking news, “On behalf of the Everton family, it is with deep sadness that I share the heartbreaking news that my sister-in-law, Ann Everton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday afternoon following a car accident.”

“She was an incredibly warm and generous soul,” Garrett said, remembering her as a “true artist” devoted to creativity in every form. “

She devoted her life to creativity—through her visual and video projects and through music as one half of Darsombra with her beloved husband, Brian. Together, they built a beautiful life, touring the world to share their art and nurturing a vibrant community of independent artists in their hometown of Baltimore.”

Nicole Evanshaw, Everton’s sister-in-law, told CBS, “It’s unfathomable what happened to them. Just the first day out, just on the way. She was vibrant, energetic, and creative. So creative.”

A Life of Music, Art & Partnership

Everton and Daniloski spent nearly two decades together, both as a married couple and as creative collaborators. As Darsombra, they described themselves as a “trans-apocalyptic galaxy rock duo,” known for blending psychedelic soundscapes with multimedia visuals.

“They were a perfect fit for each other,” Evanshaw said, as per CBS. “They fed off each other’s creativity. They were a partnership that so few people got to experience.”

Outside of music, the couple shared their passion for wellness as yoga instructors. They offered free community classes through Baltimore City Parks and Recreation, inspiring others to connect art, body, and spirit.

Everton’s family has launched a fundraising page to support Daniloski’s recovery following the crash. “We know Ann would have wanted nothing more than to ensure Brian is cared for during this difficult time,” Garrett said.

Messages of love and remembrance continue to flood social media. “I think her legacy lies in how she loved openly and freely,” Evanshaw said. “Her legacy is in her acceptance, the joy she brought, and the love she shared.”

The New York State Police confirmed the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
