Billie Eilish Shuts Down Rumors of a Falling-Out With Brother Finneas

Billie Eilish is making one thing very clear: there is no drama between her and her brother, Finneas.

After fans noticed Finneas was missing from her “Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour,” rumors quickly started circulating that the longtime musical duo had some kind of falling-out. But in a new cover story with Elle, Billie shut that down completely, explaining that his absence had nothing to do with tension and everything to do with both of them growing into separate careers.

“I heard somebody say, ‘Did you guys hear Finneas and Billie had a falling-out?’” Billie recalled. “Finneas and I have never and will never have a falling-out, ever in our lives,” per Elle.

The singer explained that Finneas stepping away from the tour had been years in the making. After all, he has his own successful solo career now, including the release of his 2024 album “For Cryin’ Out Loud!,” and she felt like he had bigger things to focus on than being part of her backing band.

“He never said it, but I was feeling like, ‘You have more to be doing than being my band member in the back,’” she said.

Touring Without Finneas Was the Hardest Part

Billie admitted the biggest adjustment on this tour was performing without her brother by her side for the first time.

Finneas had been part of all of her previous tours, along with drummer Andrew Marshall, and she said the two of them were often stuck performing on a separate platform during shows.

“We got so busy that we would only see each other right before going onstage,” Billie told Elle. She even joked that Finneas was “stuck in a tower—like Rapunzel!”

While fans assumed distance meant conflict, both Billie and Finneas said the decision was mutual. Finneas told the outlet that while he does not love touring itself, he does love performing and especially loves being around Billie.

“This past year, when she would be on tour for months, I missed her a lot,” he said.

Even without joining the full run, he still supported her by writing her a letter before the tour started, attending several shows and eventually joining her onstage for performances. Billie became emotional reading that letter in the upcoming concert film “Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D),” which she co-directed with James Cameron and releases in theaters May 8.

She also admitted just how important Finneas remains to her creatively, saying, “If I never saw Finneas at all, I might literally never make a song again.”

Their Brutal Honesty Is What Makes It Work

Billie has spoken before about how strong their sibling bond is, even when it gets messy.

During a July 2025 fan Q&A in London, she explained that working with Finneas has made her a better collaborator because they can be brutally honest with each other without fear of ruining the relationship, according to Billboard.

“Finneas and I have said the most cruel things that anyone has or ever will say because we’re siblings,” she said. “We love each other more than anyone’s been capable of loving anyone else.”

She explained that because they are siblings, arguments never feel permanent.

“We’ll get in the biggest f—ing fight you’ve ever heard of in your life…and five minutes later, we’re back, laughing and making music,” she said.

Billie called it “sibling s—” and said there is simply nothing else like that kind of relationship.

As both of their careers continue to grow, Billie said they are still figuring out how to stay close while building separate lives. But one thing is not changing anytime soon: their creative partnership.

“There’s nothing else in the world like sibling relationships,” she said.
