On Instagram, “The Jennifer Hudson Show” shared a clip of Mary J. Blige making her way down the show’s “spirit tunnel.” The corridor is located backstage, and its a tradition where the show’s staff line up to dance and cheer for celebrity guests as they walk to the studio set.
Blige entered the tunnel to the staff singing their own version of her 2001 hit “Family Affair.” They began, “Getting crunk up in the tunnel. We got Mary J. Blige you know we love her. She’s an icon we’ve got to turn her up.”
The song continued as the rap icon danced and swayed her way down the tunnel to the delight of the staff. They continued to cheer her on until she reached the stage door.
Blige’s blonde hair was cut into a bob. Bangs framed her dark sunglasses.
She wore a short black outfit, thigh-high boots and dark hose for her “spirit tunnel” walk. Gold accessories finished off her look.

In a YouTube clip of Mary J. Blige’s appearance on the “Jennifer Hudson Show,” the entertainer reflected on her remarkable career. She’s been a superstar in the rap music world since 1992.
Hudson said of the entertainer, “You have 9 Grammy Awards. Two Oscar nominations. A 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame [induction]. Three Golden Globe nominations, and one Primetime Emmy Award,” to name a few of Blige’s many accolades.
The entertainer responded, “It feels amazing. I feel like I did it. I did what I was supposed to do when I got into this industry.”
“I’ve accomplished a lot and I’m just grateful. When I was a little girl I never thought that I would have any of this,” Blige continued.
Blige is starting a Las Vegas Residency titled, “Mary J. Blige: My Life, My Story The Las Vegas Residency.” The event will take place at Park MGM.
Dates are scheduled on May 1, 2, 6, 8, and 9. Then the entertainer returns for another five dates, including July 10, 11, 15, 17, and 18.
