Ed Sheeran, 35, rarely makes his presence known on social media — but when he does — he knows how to break the internet!
In a “life update” from Sheeran on Tuesday, April 28, the Grammy Award-winning artist shared an 8-photo Instagram carousel, debuting a freshly shaved head.
The “Shape of You” singer’s lusciously ginger locks have been a notable part of his appearance, making his buzz cut a stark difference from what fans are used to.
Despite Sheeran’s unfamiliar look, fans shared their approval of his shaved head, with many commenting on how the drastic change suits him well.

“Woaah! A buzz cut was not on my bingo card…or probably any other sheerios 😂. Now the shocks slightly subsided…excuse the bad pun, but it’s growing on me the more l look at it…. its kinda hot 😜🫠Can’t wait to see more pics of the new doo,” wrote one.
“we’re so here for buzz cut Ed!!! 🩷 Can’t wait for Latin America,” added another, referring to Sheeran’s LOOP tour, which kicks back off on June 13 at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, for its North American leg.
“This wasn’t on my 2026 bingo card but you look good Ed ❤️,” a third fan added.
In the caption of Sheeran’s Instagram post, he mentioned that shaving his head signified a “fresh start” for him — something he said correlated perfectly with his many — and recent — “new beginnings.”
“1. Yes l’ve shaved my hair. I wanted to shave it to signify a fresh start. A lot of new beginnings in my life atm. I love it, thinking of keeping it this way,” Sheeran shared.

The “Shivers” hitmaker went on to describe his 8 photos, which highlighted his latest interest in Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” a novel by Barbara Kingsolver, hitting the vintage vinyl jackpot in various record stores, and of course, his preparations for his 2026 LOOP tour.
“2. More Latam dates, so so excited for that. Mexico, Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile. Details on my website, tickets etc etc. but SO excited to come back and play for you there, some of my fav countries and cities to play shows in, its been too long,” Sheeran added of several of his tour stops.
“3. Caught up with @martingarrix recently, know that guy for over a decade now, I love him, what a bloke,” the artist joked of fellow musician Martin Garrix before revealing that he recently suffered from a case of the shingles. “4. Ive had shingles for the last month, wouldn’t recommend it, but on the mend now.”
Sheeran ended his caption by elaborating on how excited he is to perform for his “lovely” fans on tour for his North American leg.
“5. Finally watched stranger things, season 4 bangs. 6. Read a book called Demon Copperhead, I might be late to the party with that one, but its brilliant go check it out,” he wrote. “7. Been buying random vinyl at record stores, coming across some gems. Allan Taylor – the traveller I found in a record store in Williamsburg, and I love it. Cant find it anywhere online, so feels like a special vinyl in the collection. 8. Restarting the loop tour in a week and a bit, cant wait to get back cracking on that, see you lovely people there.”
