Fan Buys an Iconic Britney Spears Artifact

A devoted Britney Spears fan now owns a piece of pop culture history after he purchased one of the superstar’s most recognizable vehicles. The fan took to a Reddit discussion forum about the princess of pop to say, “My boyfriend and I purchased Britney Spears Iconic 2006 Mercedes CLK 350 from an auto museum!” The car was seen being driven by the “Toxic” hitmaker in dozens of paparazzi shots during the peak of tabloid coverage of her personal life in the late aughts.

The fan went on to explain the vehicle has been in a museum for the past 15 years, and he couldn’t resist buying it after it recently went up for auction. He wants to “get it back on the road for fans to enjoy,” according to the post.

The fan also created TikTok and Instagram accounts featuring videos of himself giving fans a tour of the nostalgic car and driving it around.

Spears Previously Walked Away Unscathed from Minor Collision in the Car

In 2007, Spears was constantly followed by photographers, and was filmed getting into a small accident in a Studio City parking lot on August 6.

The songstress attempted to pull her black Benz into a tight parking space before bumping into the corner of an unoccupied car in the spot to the left, causing the paparazzi frenzy around her to intensify. Fortunately, no one was harmed in the mishap.

After the fender bender, Spears was seen entering Great Earth Vitamins while holding her small dog. The then-brunette wore a body-hugging blue dress and peep-toe heels which she paired with oversized sunglasses for the errand.

In the comments of the video, Spears’ fans stuck up for her. One wrote, “It’s all the paps’ fault for making her nervous.”

Another chimed in, “Defo the paparazzi’s fault, I wouldn’t be able to drive with them taking pics like that.”

Britney Spears Said Driving Made Her ‘Feel Free’ In Documentary

In the 2009 MTV documentary “For the Record,” a cameraman at one point asked Spears, “When did you last feel free?” The icon replied, “When I got to drive my car a lot.” She went on, “I love driving my car. There’s something about being able to drive a car that allows freedom.”

In the documentary, which was filmed shortly after the start of her 13-year conservatorship, Spears spoke eloquently about her struggles with extreme fame. She recalled was it was like constantly being swarmed by paparazzi, and how she saw her car as an escape from that. The then-28-year-old explained, “There was a time when there were always paparazzi outside my house. Everywhere I went, there was a spectacle made because of how many people were with me. That can kind of start to get to you a little bit and you can start trying to rebel against that and then I started to figure out going to places later at night, there wouldn’t be as many people on me.”

As the interview clip finished, Spears said she wasn’t interested in pity, but would like some understanding, privacy, and “a day off.”

A love of cars seems to run in the family. In July 2025, Spears’ younger son, Jayden, was spotted in a newly purchased Mercedes SL 63 AMG+ reported to be worth over $200k.
