The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards air on Sunday, September 7, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on CBS, MTV, and Paramount+. But before the award show begins, there is something else to look forward to: the Pre-Award Show.
All the Details About the MTV VMA Pre-Award Show
An hour before the award ceremony, which will be aired live from UBS Arena in New York, the Pre-Award Show will start with coverage of the red carpet. It begins at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. Viewers can watch on MTV, BET, BET Her, Comedy Central, CMT, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, and VH1, Yahoo Entertainment reports.
The Pre-Award Show will be hosted by TV personality Kevan Kenny and singer-songwriter Nessa. The announcement was shared on the official MTV VMA award Instagram account on September 4. “The #VMAs Pre-Show is going to be a party with these co-hosts! “ the caption reads, announcing the two hosts. The caption continues, “Catch your favorite stars leading up to the 2025 #VMAs – starting Sunday at 7 p.m. ET on @MTV!”
Nessa reacted with fire emojis, and in a separate comment, she wrote, “GAME TIME!!!!”
Kenney shared the post on his own Instagram account, writing, “Back at it! The 2025 @VMAs are going down this Sunday September 7 & I’m gettin the party started LIVE from the carpet at 7P on @MTV See you there! #VMAs #MTV.”
KATSEYE will perform on their singles “Gnarly” and “Gabriela,” Marie Claire reports.
Who Will Be on the MTV VMA Red Carpet?
Who will be on the red carpet? It’s unclear who will attend the 2025 MTV VMAs, but many famous faces will be performing at the event. Performers for the evening include Lady Gaga, Doja Cat, Post Malone, Tate McRae, Conan Gray, Sabrina Carpenter, and Jelly Roll. Other highlights of the evening include LL Cool J hosting the show, and Mariah Carey and Ricky Martin will be honored with the Video Vanguard Award and the first-ever Latin Icon Award, respectively.
Busta Rhymes will receive the Rock the Bells Visionary Award, and he will also perform on the night.
Other celebrities expected to attend include Bruno Mars, who is the second most-nominated person on the night with 11 awards, while Gaga leads with 12 nominations (four of which she shares with Mars for their duet, “Die With a Smile”). Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, Charli xcx, and BLACKPINK have all been nominated.
