The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards will be on Sunday, September 7, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on CBS, MTV, and Paramount+. The award ceremony will be aired live from UBS Arena in New York and is set to be an incredible and memorable show, and one of the reasons for this is the inclusion of Lady Gaga as one of the performers! This will be her first performance at the awards show since 2020.
When it comes to the VMAs, the singer is an icon!
Lady Gaga’s MTV VMA Outfits
Over the years, Gaga has wowed with her red carpet looks. She’s also made statements! Some outfits were beyond gorgeous, others were daring, albeit not for everyone. As we eagerly wait to find out what she will wear this year, we are taking a look back at some of her iconic looks.
In 2010, Gaga wowed fans when she stepped onto the red carpet in a voluminous Alexander McQueen gown. She looked just like a storybook queen!

In 2013, Gaga stunned again when she opted for a gorgeous black dress designed by Prabal Gurung. It fit her perfectly, and the tulle train made a statement.

Controversial and daring, there is no list complete without a mention of Gaga’s meat dress, designed by Franc Fernandez. She wore the dress in 2010, and it is currently housed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.

At the 2009 MTV VMAs, Lady Gaga stepped out in a Jean Paul Gaultier-designed couture bodysuit. She styled her hair in a half-blond, half-pink curly style, and she ensured that this was a look that no one would forget in a hurry.

Also at the 2009 MTV VMAs, the singer walked the red carpet in a black lace dress and a feather and beaded design on her neck, both were created by Jean Paul Gaultier.

Lady Gaga & The 2025 MTV VMAs
The official Instagram account for the VMAs teased Gaga’s performance on August 30. “There will be magic in the air at the 2025 #VMAs because @LADYGAGA IS PERFORMING! You won’t want to miss her return, September 7 on @cbstv and @paramountplus!” the caption reads. Fans are understandably excited, and the comments on the post reflect this.
Reactions include “ICONIC,” “Ready for chaos!,” and “Finally VMAS turn to receive A-LIST in their stage.”
Gaga is nominated for 12 awards at the 2025 MTV VMAs, including four alongside Bruno Mars for their hit track, “Die with a Smile.”
