Carly Simon Remembers Diane Keaton in Heartfelt Post
Hollywood stars continue to mourn the loss of Diane Keaton. While many of her former co-stars shared touching tributes, those from the music world did as well, including singer Carly Simon, who reflected on their decades-long friendship.
Sharing a photo of Keaton, the “You’re So Vain” singer touchingly captioned her post, “I’ve known Diane Keaton since we were both in our mid-20s, and from the very beginning there was a feeling of kinship between us, almost like sisters.”
Simon shared that she and Keaton had the same manager, “but what connected us went far beyond that. Diane had a warmth and wit that drew you in, and a courage in her work that left you in awe. I’ve always believed she was one of the greatest actors ever to grace the screen.”
“Losing her feels deeply personal. I’ll miss her light, her laughter, and the connection we shared,” she concluded her post.
Celebrities Remember the Impact Keaton Had on Them
GettyCelebrities are remembering Diane Keaton for her extraordinary acting career and dedication to her craft, which made her an inspiration.
Actress Reese Witherspoon, who Keaton directed in one of her very first movies, shared during her company’s Hello Sunshine’s Shine Away event (via People), “I was 15 years old and I was from Nashville, Tenn., and I didn’t know anybody. I auditioned for her, and she looked at me after. I came in with this big country accent, and I was playing this little southern girl, and she goes, ‘Who are you?'” The actress recalled. Witherspoon added that Keaton was surprised by her accent, but immediately hired her for the TV film “Wildflowers.”
Witherspoon then shared the advice Keaton gave her as a young up-and-coming actress. “She really took the time to pull me aside and say, ‘Stand up straight, okay? I want you to have good posture. If you’re going to be an actress, you’ve got to work on your posture,” Witherspoon said. “I was like, ‘Okay, Ms. Keaton.'”
Actress Melissa Joan Hart also shared how inspirational Keaton was. “He[r] body of work, her class, her style, her ability to be wildly talented and keep her private life out of tabloids is to be respected and studied for generations,” she shared on Instagram.
Singer and actress Mandy Moore called Keaton her “hero.” Moore worked alongside Keaton on the 2007 rom-com “Because I Said So.”
“They say don’t meet your heros but I got to work with one of mine and even call her “mom” for a few months. An honor of a lifetime,” Moore began. “What an incandescent human Di is and was. I am so sad she’s gone for all the reasons but also because it felt like she’d be here forever, dazzling us with her talent and charm (and her style, c’mon)!!! One of the very best to ever do it. All my love to her children and loved ones.”
